The bar is not large — it does not try to be — and that restraint is part of its appeal. The music is at a volume where you can still hear the person you came with. For visitors who find the more commercial Marais bars overstimulating, Le Duplex offers the authentic neighborhood gay bar experience that is increasingly rare anywhere in Europe.

Don’t listen to the majority of reviews here, as most are “didn’t let me in!”, this place is fantastic! I’m American and don’t speak any French, and felt completely welcome. Just dress correctly, club attire and go somewhat early (11:30). I was apprehensive at first, but so glad I went. Great atmosphere, great staff, and super friendly. Ratio is perfect and the French patrons were inclusive, if anything being a foreigner made it easier to talk to people. Plus drinks aren’t that expensive in such a cool location. You are literally right next to a major tourist attraction, in an underground metro, something that looks straight out of a 90s movie club scene.
Worst club in Paris! This place refused entry to two of our friends for absolutely no reason. They had their IDs, they had already bought tickets, and everything was completely valid. The moment they showed their passports, the security just pulled them aside and denied them entry without a single explanation. It was humiliating, disrespectful, and honestly felt like straight-up discrimination. Completely unacceptable behavior from the staff. Never coming back. Avoid this place.
Great location! Arrived at 23:00; it was still empty. The party started around midnight. Good music, correct drink prices, and good interior. Secure entrance with good security. Bar staff could be friendlier - after all, it's France, so what do you expect :) - but they still did their job. 👍
Everything was smooth. I read reviews from other people saying that the security and bartenders were not nice, but if you have a valid ticket and physical ID, you will not find any problems. The DJ was so nice, especially on the second floor. I loved it and will surely visit again.
I need to make this very clear: all of us felt insulted and humiliated by how we were treated at your cloakroom. We checked in four items and asked to collect only two. Instead of handling this normally, the staff refused, insisted we had to take all four, and took/snapped up our ticket. When we repeated—calmly—that we were only taking two items, they demanded that we pay again to re-check the other two items. The Asian female staff member was shouting aggressively, and the blonde staff member ignored everything we said and dismissed us. Their behavior was hostile, disrespectful, and felt discriminatory. This was not a simple mistake—this was unacceptable conduct. The staff member wearing glasses was polite and helpful, but the other two staff members were the main problem. The blonde staff member and the Asian female staff member must be terminated. I expect this incident to be reviewed immediately and for you to provide a clear resolution.
