Shopping in Sitges is a small-town experience. There is no equivalent of a Commercial Street or a Castro district with blocks of gay-oriented retail. What exists is a modest collection of shops that serves the gay community and tourists, concentrated in and around the old town.

What you will find

The most visible gay retail in Sitges tends to be swimwear and beachwear shops, which make sense given the town's beach culture. Several shops in the old town sell swimwear, including the kind of minimal and fitted options that are not always easy to find in mainstream retail. In summer these shops are well-stocked; in winter the selection shrinks or they may close entirely.

Pride merchandise and LGBTQ+ branded items are available from a few shops in the old town, catering primarily to tourists. Some of the bars also sell branded items. The selection is not extensive, but the basics are covered.

A small number of shops stock items that would be classified as adult merchandise or gear. These cater to both the local community and visitors. They are present without being a dominant part of the retail landscape.

General shopping

Beyond gay-specific retail, Sitges has the kind of general shopping you would expect from a prosperous small coastal town: boutique clothing, homeware, food shops, pharmacies, and tourist-oriented gift shops. The old town's narrow streets have a concentration of independent shops, and the more commercial strip near the seafront has the usual tourist fare.

For a wider retail selection, Barcelona is 35 to 40 minutes away by train and has everything you might want. Sitges works well for picking up something specific or browsing at a slower pace; it does not work as a major shopping destination.

Practical notes
