Gender Stream

Gender Stream (Ґендер Стрім) is Dnipro's flagship LGBTQI+ and feminist human-rights organisation, founded in the city in 2016 by activist Olha Poliakova after a homophobic attack. Working from Dnipro across eastern and central Ukraine, it runs the national VARTOVI platform documenting anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes, provides free legal and psychological aid to survivors, and trains police, teachers and journalists through its "school of tolerance." Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 the organisation has evacuated hundreds of LGBTQI+ people and their relatives from front-line and occupied regions and opened shelters for displaced queer people, while continuing to push for Ukraine's hate-crime and anti-discrimination legislation. For security reasons Gender Stream keeps no public walk-in address; contact is through its website (genderstream.org) and social channels (Instagram @gender_stream). It is the natural first point of contact for anyone queer arriving in Dnipro.
