Affinity Bar sits at street level on St James's Street, right in the heart of Brighton's Kemptown gay village. The spot has been a gay bar for years, running through earlier incarnations as Poison Ivy and Infinity before becoming Affinity, and it has settled into an easy-going local favourite. It opens from midday until late and draws a friendly mix of regulars and visitors. The programme leans on the things Kemptown does best: karaoke sessions, drag hosts and themed nights, all in a small, sociable room where it is easy to strike up a conversation. It works equally well as a first stop on a night out or a relaxed spot for an afternoon drink, and its central position means the rest of the scene, from the Bulldog to the Camelford Arms and Revenge, is only a short walk away.

A cute little bar with a great selection of drinks and a lovely atmosphere. We ordered two espresso martinis and they were lovely perfectly made and delicious. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, which really made the experience even better. As a WLW couple, we felt extremely comfortable and genuinely welcomed, which is so important and made the visit feel extra special. A really nice spot in Brighton we’d happily return.
