Malmaison Manchester Deansgate is a branch of the UK Malmaison boutique chain, located at 23 Princess Street near Albert Square and the Town Hall. Expect the brand's dark, design-led rooms, an on-site bar and brasserie, and a mostly business and city-break crowd. It is a mainstream gay-friendly hotel, not a gay hotel. The location is the main draw for LGBTQ visitors: Canal Street and the Gay Village are roughly a ten-minute walk east along Princess Street, close enough to walk back late at night. Deansgate, Spinningfields and St Peter's Square are just as close in the other direction. Google reviewers rate it 4.6 from nearly 300 reviews. Rates rise sharply on Pride weekend in late August, so book early if that's your trip.

We called in for Sunday lunch and it was everything we wanted it to be. The starter buffet was delicious and when I asked if I could have my roast beef very rare, blue, if possible I was told that the roast joint was medium rare but they suggested I go for a steak as they could do that blue. I did and it was perfect, very tender and cooed as I like it. The waitress had suggested the sticky toffee pudding or the creme brulee for dessert so I had the pudding and our daughter had the creme brulee. Both were to die for. My hubby had the cheese board and that had a Valancay goats cheese included. It was not as young as he would have like but he was impressed with the selection that he was given. All in all, the meal was great and our server went the extra mile in everything she did. Full marks to Malmaison.
