Zona Rosa

Zona Rosa is a gritty, long-running gay and lesbian nightspot in downtown San José, on Avenida 16 near Calle 2. It is a no-frills local hangout known for karaoke, drag and strip shows, and a mixed crowd of regulars. There is a back area/dark room, so it leans more cruisy and adult than the polished Barrio Escalante bars. It sits in the same southern downtown nightlife strip as the other traditional gay venues; take standard urban precautions and use a ride-share app late at night.
