Miami Beach Pride started in 2009 with a modest parade and is held in April rather than June so it lands in the beach's high season and avoids summer heat and storms. It is a beach party with a political edge rather than a protest march, run by Miami Beach Gay Pride, Inc. with backing from the city and Miami-Dade County and a budget over $1.2 million.
How it works: Pride Week runs for about ten days of parties, a flag raising at City Hall and smaller events across the beach. The weekend that counts is the free two-day festival in Lummus Park on Ocean Drive, with music stages running from noon to late on Saturday and Sunday, and the Sunday parade at noon along Ocean Drive from 5th to 14th Street. The beach right next to it is the gay stretch at 12th Street, so many people move between sand, festival and Ocean Drive bars all day.
Practical: South Beach hotels in April are pricey and the Pride weekend sells out; Mid-Beach and North Beach are cheaper and a short bus or bike ride away. Parking near Lummus Park is close to impossible on parade day. April sun is strong even when the air feels mild, so plan shade and water.
On numbers, the organisers' 2026 release says more than 170,000 attendees, and their site claims 185,000 in other places. Both are their own figures; we found no independent count.
The 2026 edition ran 2 to 12 April under the theme Pride Is Infinite, with the festival on 11 and 12 April and the parade on Sunday 12 April. Princess Nokia and David Archuleta headlined the main stage, and Dr Elijah Nicholas and Latrice Royale were grand marshals. The pride flag raising was moved to 7 April to avoid Passover. The event normally sits in early to mid April; the 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
