Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tuscaloosa-University, an IHG Hotel

Booking was fairly simple, as we stay at Holiday Inn Express multiple times throughout the year while traveling and on vacation, so we are very familiar with the reservation and check-in process. We arrived around noon and had reserved two rooms, as we had family traveling with us. One of the rooms was ready when we arrived, which we greatly appreciated since the official check-in time was not until 3:00 PM. We spoke with both ladies working at the front desk and were told that the second room should be ready shortly and that they would call or text us as soon as it was available. After waiting a couple of hours without hearing anything, I returned to the front desk to check on the status. I was told the room was still not ready, but once again, I was assured that we would be contacted the minute it became available. We continued waiting until approximately 4:45 PM and, after still receiving no call or text, I went back to the front desk myself. At that time, I was finally able to check into the second room. By then, there had been a shift change, and two different employees were working at the front desk. My disappointment is not necessarily with the fact that the room was not ready early. We understood that check-in was at 3:00 PM. The issue is that neither of the employees we initially spoke with followed through on their promise to contact us when the room became available. We waited several hours based on their assurances and ultimately had to continue checking back ourselves. I also left a message requesting that the General Manager contact me regarding our experience. She did return my call on Monday; 8/3/26 however, I missed the call. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to return her call and have not received another response. Overall, our stay at the hotel itself was good. Holiday Inn Express has consistently been our go-to hotel when traveling, and we stay with the brand multiple times each year. Unfortunately, based on this particular experience, I feel the front desk staff and upper management at this location lacked the level of communication, follow-through, and professionalism that we have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express.

One night stay but will definitely consider for extended stays! Beds firm but comfortable, complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations and front desk attendants are super accommodating! Great Location for shopping and dining!

I stayed for a night so I could take a 6 hr test for my career. The front desk was sweet, they gave me all the Info I needed (wifi password etc) up front in great detail. The room was very clean, comfortable. The bed and pillows were amazing. TV and wifi were great, I actually hooked up my laptop and all with no issues. TV worked great. The breakfast had a bunch of options from bagels to yogurt pancakes, sausage, omelet, boiled eggs, gravy etc. The people who worked there were very kind and respectful! I had special accommodations too because of a condition I have (so thankful I requested them too!) The shower was great and the water got hot pretty fast! Over all, I'd definitely stay again, and would recommend it to anyone going down that way. The location is also great, it's near a lot of restaraunts and shops, also near a Starbucks, and not far from University of Alabama (which is where the testing center was). The TV was huge, it was also quiet and peaceful. I definitely recommend.

Holliday Inn Express and Suites in Tuscaloosa, Al is the Best hotel and hotel service that we have experienced in a long time. Maybe ever! Everyone was super friendly, everything was always clean and/or being cleaned, rooms were spacious, pool was refreshing, and the shower water pressure was perfect! This place checks all the “must have” boxes!!!

This feels like a brand new hotel, and is super clean! I had previously left a poor review, because of an unfortunate experience we had regarding my service animal. We were able to speak with the manager, who was incredibly apologetic, informed us that additional training will take place, and she even refunded us for our stay. THIS IS THE WAY TO HANDLE SITUATIONS LIKE THIS 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you so so much for your understanding and compassion. Thank you for your very quick response and action to rectify the situation, and thank you for being so kind! If you’re ever in Tuscaloosa again, this Holiday Inn Express will be our choice stay!
