Praia Pride – Marcha do Orgulho LGBTIQ+

Praia's Marcha do Orgulho LGBTIQ+ is the capital's LGBTQ+ Pride march, held annually in early July. Cabo Verde's first Pride was staged in Mindelo in 2013; Praia has held editions in 2016, 2018 (a full Pride Week) and from 2025 onward. The 2026 march took place on 4 July, running from the Rotunda de Sucupira to the Pracinha da Escola Grande in the historic Platô district under the theme "Diversidade é riqueza, Direitu é certeza." It is organized by ICIEG and the Câmara Municipal da Praia. The celebration is modest and grassroots compared with large Western Prides but is a genuine, growing public event and the highlight of the LGBTQ+ calendar in Cabo Verde's capital.
