A charming and unique place, everything is decorated with care and attention. A place that reflects the city of Antwerp: good vibes!

I booked this B&B for Easter. The owner of the B&B responded slowly or not at all to my emails with questions. I wanted to use the parking space. I heard nothing back, so you would assume it has been arranged. Upon arrival, it was not available. I would have liked to know that. We had the master suite on the first floor. The space is large, which is nice. Quite pricey, €245 per night excluding breakfast. Then you expect something in return. Judging by the reviews, I thought I was arriving in some kind of paradise. The entrance to the building is amazing. Marble, high ceilings, and ornaments. The suite was a huge disappointment. Clean at first glance, but if you investigate further, you see that the table hasn't been taken off the wall for a long time to clean behind it. And I saw this in several places in the suite. The box containing the tea is too awful to look at. The same goes for the bottle of scented sticks in the bathroom; it looks like it has been there for years. The plants need care and a wipe down; they look very unkempt by the window. Little attention seems to be paid to the overall impression. It is precisely these kinds of details that show whether the host of an accommodation wants to make guests feel comfortable. Perhaps I have a different standard. But when I pay this amount, I expect it to be spotless and for care and attention to have been paid to the decor. This does not give you the feeling of wanting to just comfortably settle down on the sofa with a book. Also because the furniture is so old. And I mean really old. As a result, it is uncomfortable. You cannot sit on the bench by the window, because you are only sitting on metal springs (see photo). There is not a single chair you can sit on comfortably. You are almost forced to lie down on the bed (the bed was fine, by the way). The walls are dark, there is little light in the room, making it impossible to read a book or newspaper. The option to have brighter lighting would be good. There is a clawfoot bathtub. On the website, it all looks beautiful, but the reality is different. Although perhaps clean, I do not like lying in a bath where the enamel is chipped. A broken bath with stains in it is absolutely not inviting. The photos of the shower speak for themselves. 😱 The tap at the sink is not a mixer tap. Hot and cold water are separate, which is inconvenient. What makes it even more difficult is that they are loose. That is also dangerous with the hot tap, which gets quite hot. The window in the bedroom cannot be opened because the handle has broken off. The building seems to have cardboard walls on the inside, that is how noisy it is. And I understand very well that this is likely inherent to such an old building and that it is not easy to fix. But the creaking floors don't help. I cannot say anything about the breakfast, as we did not have it. I think it would be very reasonable that, when you pay this amount for a room, breakfast is included. In the reviews, I read many compliments about all the trinkets and such. And the authenticity. But that also means it might be a hell of a job to keep the place properly clean. The suite is absolutely in need of a makeover. Perhaps with light walls and ceilings and new furniture that you can truly relax on. And a renovation of the wooden floor, which looks really worn and is broken in several places, likely containing all sorts of dirt. And that’s not even mentioning the doors not closing and squeaking and creaking so badly that when your partner goes to the toilet, you absolutely wake up. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I think people really need to know what it looks like before paying this exorbitant amount for a room that screams from every angle to be renovated and given a thorough cleaning. Just cleaning the tops of the furniture and floors is not enough. I come for an experience, and unfortunately, that was not achieved regarding the accommodation. Value for money? Not something we would repeat.

Really nice place to enjoy vintage stay. The owner is really kind and will help you in all possible ways. The only problem I now have is that, I cannot go back my scrambled eggs after eating breakfast here, it was really nice 😋

I have been coming here for 10 years now and it remains a pleasure. Beautiful rooms, a very nice atmosphere. The breakfast is delicious. This time, owner Martin was on vacation and the host was Gino. Just as good hospitality as Martin, and we had some very nice conversations. It felt like I was visiting a friend. So much warmth! Gino, thank you! It is a pity that I had to go home after 2 nights. I *always* feel warmly welcomed and taken care of at Boulevard Leopold and will continue to return for many years to come. In the past 10 years, prices haven't risen nearly as fast as in regular hotels either, meaning you end up almost better off than in a boring, standard room in a hotel with grey laminate and white MDF furniture.

I don't like leaving this review, but I think it's my duty. The B&B is beautiful. A historic building in Antwerp, tastefully furnished. Very Instagrammable. It's just a few stops from the central station. However, the area is truly out of the way. To get to the city center, you have to take a tram or walk for 30 minutes. Or, for those with a lot of money, take a taxi. The accommodation isn't cheap. At least not compared to other accommodations I've stayed in in Belgium. For this reason, when I pay a decent amount, I expect to receive amenities. For example, I find it unacceptable that guests aren't provided with a bottle of water. Even if it were tap water, you have to pay €2.50 for it. The building is very beautiful, and so was the room. However, like all very beautiful rooms, decorated in a slightly Bohemian style, it has a lot of problems. Everything has been repainted, even the bathroom tiles, and that's fine. It's not good when the paint is peeling in various places. It's also not okay to see cobwebs hanging from the chandelier. It's not okay to have malfunctioning faucets. It's not okay to have a broken minibar and therefore no way to put anything in the refrigerator. Obviously, there's no elevator and no air conditioning. So perhaps the experience would have been more pleasant in October. With 35°C outside, it was less so.

A hidden gem of Antwerp! You will feast your eyes, both in the B&B and in the Orthodox Jewish quarter where it is located. The owner, Martin, is very friendly, the breakfast is delicious, and the room (Room 01) is beautiful. The private parking turned out to be very narrow for our car (we just barely made it), the room was a bit noisy, and the B&B is a good 20-30 minute walk from the center. For us, this wasn't an issue; it allows you to see more of the unique neighborhood. We absolutely loved our weekend. Highly recommended!
