Schöneberger Weltlaterne

A very nice restaurant with good German food and good beer. Reservations are recommended.

It has a relaxed atmosphere, but the waiter seemed visibly overwhelmed when it was busy. I had to wait over an hour for my food. Unfortunately, it was only lukewarm when it arrived. They suddenly ran out of beer and their supply of spirits was limited. I've never experienced anything like it. The prices are high, but that's probably more due to the location than the restaurant itself. I wouldn't recommend it.

A truly charming restaurant in Berlin with down-to-earth food. No frills, just good, honest fare.

Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely aggressive and rude, which left us all completely shocked and unsettled. We behaved respectfully and gave absolutely no cause for such behavior. Under these circumstances, we will definitely not be returning.

Anyone looking for a quaint, old-Berlin restaurant with excellent, rustic food in the capital will find themselves in good hands at the Schönenberger Weltlaterne. The restaurant is charmingly decorated with lots of authentic knick-knacks, offering a true Berlin atmosphere. For a starter, I had a fantastic liver dumpling soup with a large, incredibly flavorful liver dumpling in the center and plenty of super-fresh, still-crisp vegetables, each one distinct and perfectly seasoned. This was followed by cordon bleu with fried potatoes and a cucumber salad. What made this dish special was that the cheese in the schnitzel wasn't the usual Gouda, but a flavorful alternative, presumably Edam. The fried potatoes couldn't have been better. They were crispy, robustly seasoned, and cooked in just the right amount of oil, so they weren't dry. They also included savory bacon bits and onions. This is how fried potatoes should taste. I didn't have dessert, but I did enjoy a good caffè crema. While the prices are definitely on the higher end, when you're served such delicious food in such an authentic old Berlin atmosphere, who doesn't want to pay them? I'll definitely keep this restaurant in mind for my trip to Berlin next year. After all, the giant cabbage rolls, which are only available on Wednesdays, are supposed to be a real treat. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience genuine Berlin hospitality.

Berlin charm is rewarded with good beer and delicious food - the giant cabbage roll is seasoned differently, but it's more than huge and highly recommended.
