Hotel Lycium Debrecen - Handwritten Collection

The hotel is in an excellent location, with practically all the important sights and services within easy reach. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and the mattress and bedding are of an exceptionally high quality - ensuring a truly restful sleep. What was disappointing, and something I would not expect from a Handwritten hotel, was the instant coffee provided in the room. There were only two 3-in-1 Nescafés, one regular and one decaf. With two guests, it is easy to find that one of them does not get the coffee they want. It is also unfortunate that the bathroom has not been renovated. The passage of time is noticeable in several places, for example, the paint is already peeling off the bathroom door. It is also clear that the hotel has tried to create a unique design, but the characterful, special details that really distinguish a Handwritten hotel from the rest are unfortunately missing here. We had dinner in the Atelier restaurant, where two waiters worked. One of them was extremely nice, attentive and helpful, but when he was not in the guest area, the other colleague was more likely to use his phone than to pay attention to the guests. It was quite an unpleasant feeling that we had to get up and go to him to finally order. I think this is unacceptable in a hotel of this standard. Overall, we had a good time. The hotel is comfortable and in a great location. I would happily recommend it to others, but I hope that in the future they will pay more attention to the details, because these could really elevate the stay to an experience worthy of the Handwritten brand.

We visited the Atelier restaurant for a family event of 9 people and I can definitely say that there are few places in Debrecen where we can get such high-level service, the food and cocktails were excellent. I would especially highlight the work of József, who served 9 people alone with the greatest attention and the children also had a good time. I heartily recommend it to everyone who wants to eat well and leave satisfied. A place without disappointment ❤️
