Barcarello Beach (Sferracavallo)

The rocky coast at Barcarello, in the Sferracavallo district northwest of Palermo, is the city's best-known gay and naturist bathing spot. There is no sand — bathers sunbathe and swim off flat rocks and small concrete platforms — and the quieter stretches toward the Capo Gallo reserve are where the gay and naturist crowd tends to gather. It is a scenic, long-standing but unofficial spot with few facilities, so bring water and sun protection. Reachable by bus and then a short walk from Sferracavallo.
