Very cozy, comfortable with friendly service. Convenient location.

The best experience ever! A great location, with the train station, the old town, and shops all within walking distance. A top-notch hostel! The staff is very friendly, everything you need is there: an iron and hairdryer, water, coffee, fruit, cozy rooms, a kitchen, and a grill. If we return, it will only be here.

I stayed at Central Hostel for two nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and the room was lovely. The hostel has a small, cozy courtyard. It's in a great location and I'll definitely stay there again if I'm ever in Riga, as it's also very good value for money. ☺️

The hostel is very nice , rooms, bathrooms, very friendly staff. Has a lot of potential. The problem is the people staying there. Most are middle age men who are just there. Not saying Hello. Occupying space. Sitting all day in the common area , kitchen. Drinking 25 teas and coffees a day. Smoking two packs. Not talking with you , just looking at you in an unfriendly way because you took their space. They are very territorial. Absolutely no backpacker vibe because of them. It’s very strange the hostel allows these people in. I understand they want money but either you do a backpackers hostel or you do a homeless AA hostel. Either one or the other.

⚠️ I would not recommend the dorm room to travellers. There are long-term residents staying here who spend the entire day in the room. They talk loudly, watch videos on their phones on speaker, and eat cooked food in the room. It does not feel like a proper hostel dorm for travellers. One resident is also constantly on the phone in the kitchen and hallway, which other reviews have mentioned as well. There are three shared bathrooms, but one is out of service, one has mould and a clogged shower, and only one works properly. As for the room, it is quite dirty and not cleaned regularly. Not every bed has an electrical outlet. Lockers are inside the room, but they are far too small - you cannot even fit a small bag inside. A towel was provided, but I was given a small one and it had dried cement on it. The toilets also had a strong air freshener smell, which made them unpleasant to use.

Nice hostel for adorable price !

Value for money is solid - can’t beat 35 Euros for a private room. the mattresses were surprisedly very comfortable for a hostel. Sheets/towels are old and just okay. Bathroom was clean - however the hot water did not work in the shower and the cold water was beyond tolerable cold. Assuming the water issue would be fixed, I’d stay here again.

Those who speak Russian or English will get along well with the staff. The real problem was the Indian long-term residents who spent hours talking on their phones in the hallways and chatting late into the night. So, relaxing after a long journey is rather difficult to impossible here. At least you can take a shower. Otherwise, the location and price are good.
