A Lagos institution - the best bife a casa in all of Portugal. It’s family run and there’s always a line up. If you’re willing to wait, it’s definitely worth it.

Small restaurant but with extraordinary cuisine

we’ve been in Algarve a week now and this is by far our favourite meal of our holiday! we ordered the mixed cataplana and the seabass (i think). we were only two and ate errthang. big portions btw. the chef cooks all by himself and sometimes asks the crowd how they like it. he’s iconic. we’ll be back 😘

Simply the best Portuguese food I've ever eaten (I've lived in Portugal for 8 years). We ordered the shrimp cataplana (plenty of food for 2 people) and ate it all, spooning the sauce because it was so delicious. The service was top-notch, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We waited about 30 minutes in line and it was totally worth it. We will definitely be back!

Lives up to it’s reputation without a doubt

The wait (2.5 hours) unfortunately wasn't worth it for us, as we simply didn't enjoy the food. The cataplana was very, very creamy. Some people might like that. We saw people leaving saying "totally worth it," and the reviews speak for themselves. But for us, the cataplana was just too heavy and too greasy. It was also a bit disappointing that the restaurant skimped on the bread and shrimp. The bread was heavy white bread, and the shrimp weren't deveined. That would have been very easy to fix. The atmosphere was cozy, a bit noisy. The chef was incredibly friendly, the staff a little curt but certainly nice as well. It's just so busy.

Literally the best food I've tried in Portugal. The mixed homestyle is 10 out of 10. Definitely should try!

The sea bream was a 10/10, and the meat dish with potatoes and olives was equally good. There's a long queue, but it's worth it.

We ate the Cataplana dish here. It was delicious. If you arrive later, you have to stand in line for a while for a table. But it is definitely worth it.

My favorite meal in the Algarve region! I had the mixed cataplana and wow was it delicious! Such a generous portion, and delicious food. They also made it gluten free upon request, so accommodating to allergies! Be ready to go when they open or make a reservation as it forms a line even before they open and it’s cash only. It’s a must eat in Lagos!

A small, family-run, and extremely welcoming restaurant, one of those places where you feel good from the very first moment. You can tell it's a family dedicated to the place, and that's reflected in everything: the friendliness, the attention to the customer, and the affection with which they receive each person. I love Mr. Luis's wife 🤗 Mr. Luis is a character in himself 😄 He reminds me of the chef from Ratatouille, which makes the whole experience even more genuine and quirky! The food is simply exceptional. All dishes are prepared in front of us, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and great care. It's a pleasure to see the dedication put into each dish and, even better, to taste the result. A very special experience, for the food, the atmosphere, and above all, the people. One of those places you want to recommend and return to. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
