I have a lot of issues with this hotel. From the incredibly shameless noise pollution in the rooms (my neighbor was talking on the phone, and I learned all the details of his business) to the brazen, rude manner of the young people at reception. I'll never set foot here again.

St. Petersburg is a city that sets an impossibly high bar for grandeur — and the Lotte Hotel not only meets it, it quietly surpasses it. Tucked into a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion on St. Isaac's Square, the hotel wears its history with grace. Former residents of this building include the sixth US President John Quincy Adams and the writer Nikolay Gogol — and yet the Lotte team has managed to layer world-class contemporary luxury over that heritage without losing a single ounce of its soul. That is genuinely hard to do. But let me be direct about what sets this property apart from the competition on the square: the people. The reception team who make you feel not merely checked in, but expected and welcomed. The concierge who anticipates what you need before you've finished the sentence. This is not scripted hospitality — it is genuine warmth, and it runs through every single member of the team like a thread. In thirty years of travelling to the world's finest hotels, that quality is rarer than people think. The rooms are beautifully appointed — smart technology, impeccable linens, and for those fortunate enough to face the square, a view of St. Isaac's Cathedral that stops you in your tracks every single time. The breakfast under the stained glass dome at The Lounge is a meal in itself — unhurried, abundant, and executed to a standard that many five-star hotels in Europe would envy. The location puts the Hermitage, the Mariinsky, and Nevsky Prospekt all within reach on foot. But I will always come back for the staff. They are, simply, exceptional. Highly recommended — without reservation.

For us, this is the best hotel in St. Petersburg. The breakfasts are fantastic: a selection to suit every taste, plenty of fruit and nuts. Cleanliness and comfort: everything always sparkles, in its place, and nothing is out of place. The hotel's aromas are a luxury in themselves. Staff: the service is top-notch, always with a smile. Over the years, we've noticed how some employees have become more skilled. And this is gratifying. This means that the staff here are treated very well. We celebrated our wedding day, and everything was perfect! We received compliments from the chef, rose petals, a free room upgrade, delicious food, and a stunning view of St. Isaac's Cathedral. We were thrilled and will definitely be back!

This hotel is not very friendly to guests.
