Blackfriars Inverness

Group of us visited the restaurant at Blackfriars for the first time. Couldn’t believe how big it was inside and so nicely decorated. For starters we shared the langoustine and scallop small plates and they were just lovely. Mains included mushroom risotto, steak pie and mussels with empty plates being returned from very satisfied customers! In particular the beef in the steak pie was so tender and came with a proper glossy and tasty gravy. All dishes were nicely presented. Finally a big thank you to Dee and staff for their welcome and really good service.

Wow....in reading the reviews for the Blackfriars they certainly don't align with our experience. The room was filthy (dirt and hair on the floor), the white bathroom tile had black stains, mirror was hanging off the wall and the room was dark and dingy....nothing like the pictures on their website. We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but left after the first night. For the price you have to pay for this hotel, they could at least clean the room!

Three separate signs out the front proudly advertising breakfast and claiming to be open, yet the kitchen was closed and no breakfast was available. It’s hard to understand why a business would continue advertising something it has no intention of providing. The response from the barmaid was equally disappointing rude, dismissive and completely uninterested in the inconvenience caused. Customers shouldn’t be made to feel like they’re the problem for expecting a business to deliver what it’s advertising. A complete waste of time. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Attended Sunday roast, unfortunately it wasn’t the greatest. Started with bread and olives, butter was frozen and couldn’t spread on the bread. Had the tomato soup, roast, Cullen skink, and pork belly. While the soups were wonderful, the meats were terribly overdone. The roast and pork belly were dry and tough. Did order whiskey sauce since there was maybe a tablespoon of gravy on the roast, and the sauce was very good.

Nice room but very noisy. Bring earplugs if you sleep on the street side. Impersonal reception at the hotel. Average breakfast with an extra charge for savory items. Only one pleasant waiter. Unremarkable food for a pub.

Beautiful, cozy location and delicious food

Tried this restraunt on the 28th of April, after seeing a YouTube video on it. Have been in Scotland for 5 nights have had steak every night and they have the best steak by far. Great service as well and drinks.

We stopped here for dinner and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with warm hospitality!! The vibe in here was cozy and full of charm. The food was absolutely delicious! We got the pan seared salmon with caper butter and the beef pie with mash. Amazing !!

Staff was friendly and very walkable location. However the room we were in felt a bit dingy and the bathroom floor tile could have been cleaner. Additionally, a little bit of water leaked from the toilet every time it was flushed. Wanted to love this place but left feeling disappointed.

We only stopped there for tea on our way to Loch Ness, but the people were incredibly friendly and gave us tips on what else to do in Inverness and where to buy things. Next time we'd love to rent a room there!
