Hotel Casa Alquimia

PROs: Location, location, location; friendly and helpful staff; breakfast included; drinking water provided throughout the hotel. CONs: room was very dark; bathroom was very dark —very poor lighting; basic breakfast was the same every day which got very old after a few days; hot water was not hot and was not consistent; pillows were hard; WiFi was weak; no ceiling fan so very little ventilation in the interior room.

Excellent location. The hotel is a beautiful antique, museum too. Problem is they offer only breakfast and don't have either room service for food nor restaurant during the day.

A well located and stunningly well decorated inn with excellent service. Breakfast was served in a dining room with views. Truly a wonderful experience!

I want to explain the whole situation. I booked this hotel through Booking.com; generally, Booking.com handles everything with the hotel, and you handle it with Booking.com. I always choose to pay upon arrival since it's the most convenient option. And Booking.com specifies that they won't charge anything until you arrive. Well, the day of check-in arrived, which is usually after 3:00 pm. I received a WhatsApp message directly from the hotel saying they hadn't received my payment and that they were going to have to cancel. So, two hours before I was due to arrive at the hotel, they were canceling my reservation. Of course, I was angry and told them that, to begin with, they shouldn't have contacted me if that was the problem, because that's precisely why I book everything through Booking.com—so they can take care of everything. I looked for the email and, of course, found that they shouldn't have tried to charge anything before I arrived, so I sent it to them. A few minutes later, they said they no longer had rooms available but that they could find us another hotel for that night, and we could check in with them for the following nights. I accepted because at that hour I wasn't going to start looking for another option. The two days we stayed at their hotel were fine, and they showed they were sorry for what had happened. They even gave us a bottle of wine that was in the room as a way of apologizing. The hotel is nice and centrally located. I just wanted to mention that situation, which wasn't quite right, but in the end, they made amends.

I stayed while I was in Quito for four weeks on business. Couldn't be happier with my choice- the accomodations were beautiful, the entire staff are wonderful people. Excellent breakfast in the mornings. It was really a home away from home. Highly recommended.

In the corridors, you will find several barrels of drinking water, which you can take with you on your trips. A big advantage.!!!

I give Hotel Casa Alquimia 5☆ because there are no more stars to add. I absolutely loved my stay there with my family. Andre was very responsive and accommodating and all of the staff was extremely nice and helpful. I really appreciated the hotel's added service of being picked up and dropped off at the airport for a reasonable price. Additionally, I waited last minute to book a tour so there were no available tours for the days I wanted, but I didn't know that the hotel also offered a variety of tours that luckily I was able to book very quickly with the help of management. I was very grateful for our tour guide Yoel, and driver Manuel who were very professional, knowledgeable and fun to be around. They took us to "Baños" were my family and I enjoyed several activities all strategically put together to get the best nature experience I could asked for. My kids completely loved this adventure Yoel prepared for us, the restaurant he suggested and the patience to answer all our questions about the country. Finally, the hotel is so beautiful and conveniently located. Everything inside the hotel looks cozy, nicely decorated and well-preserved, keeping its original style intact. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, healthy and prepared by the nicest people ever. I never thought I would fall in love with Quito so much. Whenever I come back to Ecuador, I'm definitely coming back Hotel Casa Alquimia. I'm really thankful to them for making our stay so unique and memorable.

It's not the hotel's fault that the city authorities can't ensure security in the center of the capital. The hotel itself is incredible, very beautiful, very cozy, incredibly stylish and lovingly decorated. Breakfast is served on the veranda with a beautiful view; it's small but delicious, and the bread is very soft and fresh. What you need to know: the hotel doors are always locked. If you arrive at night, you should let the hotel know so they can wait for you, as this area of ​​the city is not very safe. I checked in at 3 a.m., and I had to ask the taxi driver to stand next to me while I rang the doorbell and until they opened it. If I had been alone, I would have been worried. The room has a large window and a balcony, but it also has to be kept closed for security reasons. I understand that the hotel staff works hard to make you feel safe and comfortable inside, but they can't control the situation outside the hotel.

The staff at Casa Alquimia made us feel so well taken care of, comfortable and safe. They even escorted us to our taxi in the leading up to a protest outside. They offer airport transport, massages, and tours. The rooftop is awesome, breakfast on the terrace with views of El Virgen del Panecillo. Most of all, everyone was so patient and gentle with our very basic Spanish speaking skills. The place is stunning and has a long history. Highly recommend.

This is where you want to stay! I give it 10/10! The staff is amazing and breakfast was wonderful! I'm so happy I chose this place. I just left this morning after a six-night stay. Such an interesting place to stay in Quito. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you, Casa Alquimia for everything you did for me!
