Norfolk Motel

SUMMARY: affordable, clean bed, but the rest of the room was filthy and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. PROS: relatively affordable; easy online booking; polite staff over the phone; relatively safe; working A/C; clean mattress and sheets; easy check-in and check-out. CONS: strong cigarette smoke smell; visibly filthy floors and walls, and moldy tub; broken/missing deadbolt latch on the door; cracked flooring. MORE DETAILS: We stayed there on the night of August 10-11, 2025 on our way to PEI. We arrived at 1:30am and left at 8:30am. We had booked online earlier that same day, and our options were limited. It was about half the price of all other options that night, but was still not worth $120.00 CAD given the value of the experience. (In hindsight, we should have booked better accommodations ahead of time, so we could have at least gotten some quality sleep and a clean shower.) The first thing we noticed was the strongest cigarette smoke smell I’ve ever smelled, and it didn’t dissipate throughout the night and lingered just as strongly the next morning. The smell wasn’t present outside the room, only inside the room. The room itself was filthy. The inside of the door was covered in what appeared to be dried blood, as if someone had wiped their bloody nose on it. There was mold in the shower. The floor was dirty with both loose debris and caked on grime in the corners. The floor had a piece missing between the bathroom and bedroom that left a jagged edge and exposed screw. The dead bolt latch was broken, so we locked the handle lock and moved an armchair in front of the door for extra protection. The only clean part of the room was the mattress and sheets, so we ultimately decided to try to sleep there as we’d already paid and it was late. I didn’t have a very good sleep, but my husband barely slept at all as he kept worrying about the possibility of bedbugs. Thankfully, we didn’t end up encountering any bedbugs on the night, and didn’t bring any with us after our visit (I’ve heard sometimes that can happen if they get into your luggage). I unfortunately don’t remember the room number. It was located around the back of the motel, near a dumpster surrounded by scattered junk that looked like it belonged on a horror movie set, including several large broken electronics stacked on a rusty wheelchair that could seriously hurt someone if it toppled over. It was easy to book and pay online. The staff I spoke to over the phone after booking was polite and friendly. They accommodated a late-night arrival by leaving the room door unlocked, though I realize now that could have easily been a safety issue. It was an easy checkout in the morning, simply leaving the keys in the return box. It’s unfortunate that the room itself was so disappointing, as the staff seemed well-intentioned. I hope they can improve that room.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable and clean. I’m not sure what the bad reviews are for on here but they had me scared, however, for $100, it was clean, we had a mini fridge and a microwave, and it served the purpose! The traffic going by in the mornings is a little heavy and the curtains could’ve thicker but those are my only complaints.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay..very comfortable.. very cozy..I would definitely recommend this to others for their stay..🙂👍 Thank so much..!!..🙂

The man at the front desk gave us amazing customer service. The beds are comfy, air conditioner works great. Yes, it's an older establishment but I feel like they are trying to improve it.

Terrible motel. Smells moldy as soon as you open the door. Never stocked up with items ex. Toiletries towels. Dusty and filthy bedding and furniture. Customer service was not great.

Where do I even start? If I could give this motel zero stars, I would!!! My girlfriend and I stayed here about three years ago and due to the busyness of the nature, I forgot to write a review. Well, grab your coffee and have a seat because this scary story is about to get scarier… The first room that we were offered at cockroaches coming out from the bathroom and the shower was about 4 feet away from the bed. We walked out in horror and disgust and asked to see another room. The other room that we were offered had mold in the corners of the wall and the windows. There was approximately about 2 mm of dust on the fan in the room, and exposed electrical outlet hanging from the wall. There was dirt and stains on the pillows and blanket. My girlfriend ended up grabbing her blanket and we slept on that. We woke up early in the morning just so we could get out of that room asap. When I complained about the room, the lady at the front was rude and sarcastic, saying, “well that’s all we have”When I asked for a refund and to leave, she said she wasn’t able to do that. After driving approximately 15 hours from Ontario to New Brunswick, we desperately needed a place to stay so we stayed the night. I refuse to ever say anything good about this place and in the past three years in my travels, I have said nothing but bad things about this place to all my friends and family members and to tell them never to come here. My girlfriend had to shower with her sandals on, and she refused to take them off while we were there. I had to sprinkle water on the floor, and I use one of the towels and a sweeping matter to clean the floors for us to walk him. Needless to say, the towel was utterly destroyed and completely black. I can probably bet my life savings that it was never mopped. Here are some photos to show that this review is it 100% accurate. Not like some people that give this place five stars.

Room was filthy, poorly laid out, lacking basics such as klinex, facecloths etc. Lamp between bed had to be plugged in by crawling on floor, fan hanging from ceiling was low enough my son kept hitting his head. He is 6'2". List goes on.

This place needs a torch! So disgusting! I would have preferred to stay out on the streets of town with the homeless people (in the rain/cold)! Unfortunately, I had already paid (non-refundable) to stay there. The room seemed relatively clean but I still refused to take off my clothes for the entire stay... no way was I taking a shower in there. The first thing that I did was to open the bathroom door. The door stuck a little and once it was open it could not be closed again. The door hinge at the bottom was not attached to the frame! The screws were hanging out and the door dragging on the floor. It smelled musty but after remaining open for a while, the smell dissipated. The fixtures were perfect for a pre-school classroom. The toilet paper was on the wall on the other side of the sink and about 1/2 meter or so towards the door and with the door stuck open, you have to reach around the door to get to it. Not a bad reach if you're an Orangutan. I am NOT! I slept fully dressed (shoes included) because I was grossed out. Renovations would likely be very expensive to try and update everything that is needed. Tear it down and start over from scratch! NOTHING worth saving there. This place makes the whole City/Province/Country look pathetic. I wouldn't want visitor to see my Country looking like this. Sad...so sad. : (
