Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

This is honestly one of the worst maintained hotel rooms I've been in. We tried to check in at 10 when we got there, staff kindly told us check in wasn't till 3, and thats to ensure room cleanliness. We came back at 6 after a day date to a dirty room. Rm #261 Walked in to a long black hair on the bed. Have pic Hair on the toilet bowl and base of the seat have pics Ac doesnt work. Only 1 fan position worked. The rest shut it off. Bathroom fan doesn't work. There is mold above the tub have pic There was still soap suds in the soap dish in the shower but didnt get a pic of it Elevator is really loud it sounds like a grinding noise Also we could hear the elevator through the wall due to being right behind it. Lasted till about 1230 then started up around 5am and it woke us up. Screen is torn & Screen door is extremely hard to close or open. The hot water handle on the vanity was missing. There was also what looked like mop water splatter on the wall behind the door accompanied with dirt/dust along the lip of the piece of rubber at the bottom of the wall that wiped off with kleenex. Have pics This was our anniversary getaway and we were super disappointed. I wanted to ask for a refund but didn't want to ruin our weekend. We only stayed for 1 night.

Drove from Arizona to Idaho in one night and had this hotel booked in advance. When we arrived a little after 5am, we were told that our room had been given up for the night but that our reservation for the second night was still valid and to come back the next day at 3pm to check in. Honestly, it was initially our fault for not calling and confirming that we were still going to show for our reservation but even in that case, they should've called us first to confirm the cancellation. After a very long 18 hour drive, we were exhausted and ready for showers and bed so this was an extremely frustrating situation. Thankfully instead of being stranded until 3pm, there was a motel 6 available for the night that we could stay at until 11am, and then check in to the red lion at 3 like we were told to do. We even called at around 10am to confirm that our reservation was still good and they told us yes. Long story short, we show up to the hotel and are told that our room had been canceled and re-booked by another guest for both days after being told multiple times that it was still available for the second night. This place should be an absolute last resort and even then, there’s tons of other hotels in the area worth your money over this. Customer service is awful, nobody knew what they were talking about. They sent us in roundabout circles, and continued to string us along with no resolution in a situation where we desperately needed a place to stay. Overall an awful experience.

We are traveling as a family with a medically complex toddler. The room we stayed in had no AC. We called the front desk and they said someone could come fix it tomorrow(we were checking out in the morning) so we had to sleep with the balcony door open. It was still so hot!! We had to all sleep basically naked and no blankets. The front desk said the only option was a fan for the room so we took the fan and used that it helped but it was way to hot in there. My child already struggles with regulating her body temperature so she was absolutely miserable. Woke up to get breakfast after paying 7 dollars per person and there was absolutely no breakfast left and nobody refilling the food so we left without breakfast. The people in the room next to us were smoking Marijuana all night long and with us having to have the door open all night all we could smell is Marijuana. Super disrespectful especially when we have kids traveling with us. Super disappointed.

Location was good, easily walked into downtown area. Felt safe, it's Boise so there worst area is a lot of other cities best. The people at the front desk were exceptionally helpful and welcoming to our dog. Our bedding was clean. But the rest of the room and the hotel were completely in disrepair. Hallway carpet was duct taped together-not just in a few spots. No clean windows. Water stains on the ceiling. Toilet barely flushed and door regularly would not open. There was a weed smell embedded in the place. Would only recommend if you are truly looking to rough it.

This is by far the most disgusting hotel I've ever had to spend the night in. I had reservations a month in advance and the night we showed up to check in, this incompetent hotel staff had given our room away and I was given one on the spot to appease me. Upon entering the room, we noticed a giant hole in the ceiling with wires hanging out, no TV, no blankets, no working ac, no working phone, a vomit worthy filthy floor that I could write my name on due to the dust. Nasty sheets, etc. They have held my deposit now for over 2 weeks and won't give it back. In all honesty, I deserve a total refund. This is shameful.

My husband and I had a reservation at Red Lion Hotel Downtown Boise. This was booked due to having a late night event in Boise. After a long day and even longer night we were looking forward to arrive to the hotel and get some much needed rest, only to arrive to a very disappointing situation. I’ve never seen a dirtier hotel. Our first red flag should have been that a couple of things were out of order upon arrival: the front door and the computer. Secondly, the front desk area was gross as well but we decided to look past that and hoped that the room would be different; It was not. Upon entering the elevator, we see a very dirty floor, upon exiting the elevator to walk to our room we immediately get a horrible smell. Turns out it was the smell of weed mixed with old smoke and then as we turn the corner, trash bags in the hallway left to stink it up. We were willing to endure if the room itself was clean. It was a semi-decent room (not decent enough to be paying $131 however) but the bed literally only had a single sheet to cover up. No blankets no quilts. We already felt uncomfortable and were now nervous about getting bed bugs. I told my husband that maybe I could Lysol the entire mattress. Upon moving the sheet to sanitize underneath we see a stain on the sheet much similar to a blood stain. At this point we decided it would be much better to endure our exhaustion and make the 2 hour trek back home than to spend a restless, uncomfortable night in a stinky, dirty hotel with God-knows-what on the mattress. The front desk person offered a different room but what he didn’t understand is how uncomfortable we already were; a different room was evidently not going to be any better because the lack of care for the lobby, the hallways, and the room that we walked into was a tell-tale sign. He said he would make some notes about our remarks. If this was a cheap and shady motel 8, this would likely be expected but this is a Red Lion Hotel that charged us $131.

Staff were really nice which made up for a few things. Housekeeping could use a bit more attention to detail but nothing that ruined the stay. Decent spot overall.

Excellent pricing, wonderful staff and service. The rooms are a bit dated but have everything you need and nothing you don't.

It has a better review then it should be, the floor me and my family were staying at had a smell of pot, cigarettes, and weed, I had a headache from just walking in the hall, there's spots that werent clean, unswept, and some of the plugs were loose, I went into the bathroom and the faucet doesn't turn off, theres a very dusty vent or something and it looks disgusting, I wouldn't recommend this place if you want something clean

Never got into the room, the card key did not work even with multiple trips to the front desk. The place smelled really strong of POT!!!!! Floors were filthy, walls banged up in hallways. Smell inside made mine and my wife's throat burn within minutes of being there. We canceled the reservation and went elsewhere for $20 more a night. The filth alone made our skin crawl, but the smell and broken door sealed the deal. Run, don't walk. (One small positive, they did cancel and give us our money back without fees)

A little sad, the carpet had duct tape running on places.
