The Theatre District Association of WNY is proud to announce that longtime arts leader and children’s theatre pioneer Meg Quinn will be honored with a star on the Plaza of Stars, located in the heart of Buffalo’s Theatre District. The dedication ceremony will take place on Monday, September 14th at 5:30 p.m. at Shea’s 710 Theatre. This exciting event will serve as the kickoff to Curtain Up! 2026,  Buffalo’s annual celebration of the official opening of the theatre season, on Friday, September 18.
A founding member of Theatre of Youth (TOY) in 1972, Meg Quinn has devoted her career to creating inspiring theatre experiences for children. As Artistic Director for 28 years, she helped build TOY into one of the region’s most respected cultural institutions, producing plays that spoke to “the wonders and worries in the world”. Her visionary leadership and commitment to arts education have enriched the lives of generations of young people and families throughout Western New York.
Meg holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from Daemen University and an MS in Creativity and Creative Problem Solving from Buffalo State University. She currently serves as a Trustee of Shea’s Performing Arts Center and volunteers as a reading tutor with Read to Succeed in Buffalo Public Schools.
“Meg Quinn has had an extraordinary impact on the cultural life of Western New York,” said Lisa Ludwig, TDA board member. “Her lifelong dedication to creating meaningful theatre for young audiences has inspired generations of children, artists, educators, and families. We are thrilled to recognize her remarkable legacy with a star on the Plaza of Stars.”
The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Shea’s 710 Theatre. Friends, family, former colleagues, and members of the theatre community are encouraged to join in celebrating Meg Quinn’s outstanding contributions to Buffalo’s theatre community.
