DoubleTree by Hilton Hartford Downtown

Awful staff. Our room smelled like pee when we got in. The next morning we woke up to 2 maintenance guys in our bathroom (even though our do not disturb sign was on the door) at 9 am. They said we called, we didn’t. Hotel staff was rude, acted like anything we needed was an inconvenience.

For $300 a night, we expected more. The staff was kind and the check-in/check-out process was quick. The room was clean and the layout was fine. The amenities are effectively non-existant and the restaurant is closer to a gas station convenience store (with terrible coffee). If we ever go back to that area, we'll probably stay somewhere else.

I stayed here for a show I was attending at PeoplesBank Arena, which is conveniently located right next door, so I didn't even have to step outside to get to the arena. (Via walkway entrance!) It was super convenient! My room had a beautiful view out front and was impeccably clean! I opted for a rate that included breakfast; we enjoyed a refreshing iced coffee and a burrito, while my guest had an ebc bagel. It was definitely worth the small extra charge. Parking was also very convenient, entrance located right beside the hotel, and getting around inside was easy; it might be a bit confusing at first, but once you know where you're going, it's all good. I must say all the staff I encountered were all very friendly! I would absolutely stay here again when I'm in the area, without a doubt.

Great proximity to arena!

Staff is very pleasant, front desk ladies were very friendly. Overall good stay for a quick trip in the CT.

Perfect for attending events at the arena. Clean, friendly. Can't turn on the shower without getting in and the bathroom ventilation is non existent. The room foot print was on the small side, especially with the pull out open it was hard to get around the room. I'd stay here again only if attending an event at the arena

This hotel was a let down for being a double tree hotel. Rooms are noisy because of the highway and gaps on the windows bringing in a lot of noise into the rooms. Breakfast is okay but not as good as other double tree hotels. This hotel shares half of the building with an apartment complex. Not ideal. Too many families coming in and out of the time

Misleading

I recently stayed at the DoubleTree Downtown hotel in Hartford, CT, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The property is clearly in need of an immediate renovation. The guest rooms feel very outdated, and the beds were uncomfortable, which made it difficult to get a good night’s rest. The shower had very poor water pressure, and there was also a noticeable gap between the entry door and the wall, allowing hallway noise to come directly into the room whenever other guests walked by. Another issue was the elevators. Out of the two elevators in the building, only one was operating during my stay, which caused delays. I mentioned this to the front desk twice, but there was little concern or effort to address the situation. Overall, the condition of the hotel and the lack of attention to these issues made this a disappointing stay. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this property until significant improvements are done.
