The Wick, Hudson, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Spend the night at this delightful gem… I could not have been more impressed. The staff were professional and friendly the location, highly walkable, and my room was exquisite… And I am seriously still dreaming of those sheets. I live in a local area and I’m making up reasons to return soon… Highly recommend.

Stayed at this hotel due to a house fire that displaced us from our home. This is the only reason I would ever stay here due to the complete lack of professionalism and hospitality from the front desk staff at this establishment. There was never a smile on anyone’s face as we checked in or checked out, I felt bad as I asked myself “Do the staff hate it here too?” Hate to leave a bad review, but this was completely necessary as a girl who loves to travel and stay in new places and meet new people!

I had a reservation via work. Most importantly - the majority of rooms are in the basement. Those facing north have no natural lighting or windows. Very problematic and claustrophobic. The bed was comfortable enough but everything was very standard and disinteresting. The photos on their website would have you believe this hotel can’t be overlooked. I’m saying it can. Additionally, had a Caesar salad that ran me $22 (I had chicken on it) and it was almost inedible. The croutons tasted like plastic and the lettuce couldn’t possible be described as fresh. The gym was fine. Minimal equipment. Aged cardio machines that could use a tune up.

The Jewel of Hudson Valley.

You cannot get temperature beyond 70° in the room( more like 60° in bedroom area), and unbearably bright hospital lighting, especially in the bathroom. A place called Wick should have warm lighting to echo the light of a candle. It feels so depressing and sterile. At the very least add a second dimmer light in bathroom, and add dimmer switches to all of the lights. This could turn the whole experience around. Don't underestimate the power of good lighting! Edit- Shower is awful, no pressure, no door. Showerhead sucks. Hope to see some meaningful changes. Great location.

Walking distance to restaurants, bars. Plenty of free parking. Beautiful, large rooms. Gorgeous bathroom. Top notch fittings. Very quiet.

If you can get a reasonable rate this is a great hotel in a renovated candle factory. Browsing certain weekends and rates are over $1000 per night, not worth that amount as the restaurant and bar menu is lacking

Really enjoyed our stay at the wick! The building itself is lovely, the decor/vibe manages to maintain an element of the historic feel while adding a modern vibe simultaneously. It’s slightly tucked away which is nice, there’s not a ton of noise to contend with. The room was simple and elegant, really high ceilings and huge windows for natural light. We didn’t necessarily plan on having breakfast there everyday, but the food was delicious and the service was wonderful so we ended up eating there every morning for our whole stay. Loved the vibe of the place and would definitely stay again next time we’re in town.

My stay at The Wick was a wonderful one! I did happen to stay in one of the double-queen rooms in the basement, but it was a huge room with a large window still! It happened to also be my birthday during my stay and management left a birthday card in the room upon check in! Much appreciated and it was a great touch; which made the stay above average! The bartenders and front desk staff were great! Even though the cook didn’t show up the last morning we were there, so we didn’t get breakfast, the restaurant had a great selection for meals all throughout the day! I highly recommend a stay at The Wick and will most likely stay there again, if I am in the area!

Victoria and every single staff member at the WICK were wonderful. She helped us arrive with everything we needed already prepared. We had a great stay and feel like this is our home away from home.
