Coral Sands Motel

I love this hotel. I just wrote a review. I just read it was sold to Dean McKillen, the Irish real estate investor who developed the Bel Air spec mansion. I hope they don’t destroy this hotel. Too many changes will destroy this hotel & cause it to be closed and destroyed. I warn the buyers and new owners who bought this hotel. Read my review. Terry Peeler, Charlotte, NC

Coral Sands is a best-kept lodging secret! I think it was called The Colonial when it opened many decades ago-- thus the pillared front. I'd say the Coral Sands rates 5 big stars as a budget motel. First, the front desk staff is concerned that their guests are satisfied and have a good time. The quiet rooms seem safe and secure. The rooms are very small and kind of dark but very pristine. While the bathrooms are too small for a tub, the showers are hot with strong water pressure, and the bathrooms each have a little window. Coral Sands would be excellent for a family that doesn't need luxury or a lot of room to spread out in. The courtyard is very attractive, with a well-maintained pool and jacuzzi. Of course the location was perfect, and the free parking [free in 2019] is a terrific amenity. A grocery store and small shopping mall is very close. A couple blocks north is gorgeous, historic Fern Dell park, a must-see that's served as a location for countless film and tv. If you want lots of amenities, go elsewhere. If you need a clean, convenient, friendly base to operate from, reserve the Coral Sands. TIP: upon arrival, pull into motel parking. After you check in, you will get a special card for your dashboard. Also, during hot weather activity at the lovely pool could get loud.

Great location!

I remember this place from many years ago. It was a different time and it was definitely a different place. That being said, the room was very comfortable and the staff we're helpful and friendly. The property was immaculate, Shrubbery and other landscaping was trimmed and neat. The proximity to grocery store and other conveniences is perfect.
