On our trip, this was the best hotel with good value for money. Unfortunately, the valet parking attendants were very pushy. They also incorrectly stated that parking in town was not free. We were there in the summer and parked for free on Lake Mary Road. Parking should also be free on Minaret Road. Different rules may apply in the winter.
Food options are limited for vegetarians and what we ordered was not worth the price we paid. Great location, nicely appointed rooms and the staff are very helpful.
A very nice and modern hotel. We were there in the off-season and it was very relaxing. The parking attendants were super quick and friendly. We can't comment on the food as we didn't eat at the hotel. The option to do our own laundry was also great. Keep it up!
Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had, especially considering Limelight’s positioning and reputation. We stayed two nights for a birthday celebration, spending around $1,000. I travel frequently for work and leisure and regularly stay at upscale/luxury properties, so my expectations weren’t simply based on the price. I was excited Mammoth finally had a newer high-end hotel and, since I plan to return regularly during ski season, hoped Limelight could become my go-to property. Instead, I left questioning whether I’d ever return. At check-in there was no greeting, welcome, or acknowledgment whatsoever. I had to ask the agent if she was available to check us in. She took my ID and card, several minutes passed, and the next thing handed to me was essentially our keys and room number. No acknowledgment of the birthday, explanation of our room, length of stay, property, restaurant hours, amenities, gym, or where anything was located. Our American Express booking benefits weren’t explained either. It was an incredibly cold, transactional welcome. We called downstairs because the interaction felt so strange. We were told there was no manager working, some staff were new, and notes would be left for management. The next morning I spoke with front desk manager Kennedy. Before explaining everything again, I specifically asked what notes had been left. She told me essentially all she knew was that our Amex benefits hadn’t been explained. That wasn’t remotely the concern we raised. As I explained what happened, Kennedy then began adding details and saying she had “heard differently” about parts of our interaction. That felt extremely disingenuous considering moments earlier I’d been given the impression the Amex issue was all she knew. The conversation felt more focused on defending what happened than understanding why we felt unwelcome. Still, I gave them an opportunity to make it right. Kennedy said a director would contact me. No one did. At checkout, Kennedy asked if he’d reached out. I said no. She apologized and said he should contact me later that day. Again, no one did. It’s now been about a month. I intentionally waited before posting this because I wanted to give Limelight every opportunity to follow through. I’ve heard nothing. That’s what turned a bad check-in into an extremely negative impression. Mistakes happen and new hotels have growing pains. What I can’t understand is raising an issue while still there, speaking directly with management, being promised follow-up multiple times, and receiving none. The restaurant staff were a positive part of our stay and some individual employees were perfectly pleasant, but overall I never felt particularly welcomed. I’ll also be candid about something that has stuck with me: the experience left me wondering whether I simply wasn’t the demographic this hotel expected or wanted. I can’t know why I was treated this way and won’t claim that I do. But when a hotel leaves a guest questioning whether their business is wanted, something has gone seriously wrong. We came to Mammoth after summiting Half Dome, excited to relax and celebrate my wife’s birthday. Instead, I left feeling like my money was accepted without much appreciation for my business. Maybe our experience was an anomaly. I hope others are treated differently. But I didn’t come to Limelight looking for a one-time stay—I was hoping to find the hotel I’d return to throughout winter. Beautiful facilities only go so far. Hospitality is ultimately about how you make people feel, and Limelight Mammoth made me feel like my business wasn’t wanted.
We had a wonderful August two-night family stay at Limelight Mammoth and would happily return. We were traveling with our 6- and 2-year-old boys, and the hotel worked extremely well for a family. Our fourth-floor room had a beautiful mountain view, especially at sunset, and the kids were genuinely excited when we first walked in. The room was comfortable, modern, and a great place to relax after long days exploring Mammoth. One of our favorite parts of the stay was breakfast. The buffet had plenty of options for both adults and kids—fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, coffee, hot chocolate, and more. There was also a gaming area that kept our boys entertained and gave my wife and me a chance to actually sit, enjoy our coffee, and take in the atmosphere. The staff was consistently helpful. Valet helped us with our luggage on arrival, housekeeping was responsive when we needed fresh linens, and the front desk was accommodating with our requests. They were also able to give us a 12:30 p.m. late checkout, which made our departure day much more relaxed. We ate dinner at the Limelight Lounge both nights and enjoyed the food and cocktails. The hotel’s location also made it easy to explore Mammoth and get to activities like Woolly’s Adventure Summit and the nearby lakes. Overall, Limelight felt upscale without being stuffy and very welcoming to families. Beautiful property, great breakfast, helpful staff, and a comfortable home base for exploring Mammoth Lakes. We’d stay here again.
