Kajun's Pub is a karaoke bar on St Claude Avenue, on the edge between the Marigny and the Bywater. It isn't a gay bar, but it's a mainstream gay-friendly place whose crowd is heavily queer: locals, drag performers and people coming from shows at nearby St Claude venues all take a turn at the mic. The room is basic, with neon and a long bar, and nobody is fussy about who can sing. Karaoke usually runs late, and the weekend crowd peaks well after midnight. Big Daddy's and the other Marigny gay bars are a short walk or ride away if you want to make a night of it.

The bar has posted signs saying they’re anti ice Pro Latino but they didn’t allow my 29 year old Colombian friend. He was from Colombia and brought his Colombian ID and he was denied entry. The bouncer started calling the woman in the group slurs and overall was just a terrible experience. We were visiting from out of town and felt very targeted for being Latinos.

The bartender was so rude; we asked the door man if they were still serving pizza and he said yes, inside. My friend and I waited for so long to be attended and I witnessed the bartender be nice to the person before me but then was very rude to me and my friend. He was like what do yall want? And we were like ohh we wanted to order a pizza and he was like outside and tried to move onto the next customer but we were also gonna order drinks. Would definitely not recommend, especially if you’re a woman of color.
