About this place Kajun's Pub

Kajun's Pub is the karaoke bar New Orleans actually goes to, a St Claude Avenue fixture where the mic never seems to go quiet. The room is scruffy in the right way: neon, a long bar, and a songbook that gets a workout from drag performers, Marigny locals and whoever wandered in after a show at the AllWays Lounge across the street. While not exclusively a gay bar, the crowd is heavily queer and the vibe is emphatically come-as-you-are. Expect big voices, bigger reactions, and bartenders who keep things moving into the small hours; weekends run until 3am. It sits on the St Claude corridor at the Marigny-Bywater seam, making it an easy stop between the AllWays Lounge, Big Daddy's and the Phoenix.

The bar has posted signs saying they’re anti ice Pro Latino but they didn’t allow my 29 year old Colombian friend. He was from Colombia and brought his Colombian ID and he was denied entry. The bouncer started calling the woman in the group slurs and overall was just a terrible experience. We were visiting from out of town and felt very targeted for being Latinos.

The bartender was so rude; we asked the door man if they were still serving pizza and he said yes, inside. My friend and I waited for so long to be attended and I witnessed the bartender be nice to the person before me but then was very rude to me and my friend. He was like what do yall want? And we were like ohh we wanted to order a pizza and he was like outside and tried to move onto the next customer but we were also gonna order drinks. Would definitely not recommend, especially if you’re a woman of color.
