Blue Jay Inn

Blue Jay Inn was super cute, very clean and conveniently located right on the main road in town. The drinks were very tasting the the gift shop was fun and had the cutest little trinkets and gifts. 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back for many more stays!

Everytime I come to Lava this is the place I stay here and highly recommend it.

I was delighted by the Blue Jay. The rooms were cute, clean, and had a nice cozy feel. It was close to everything. Don’t skip the gift shop! There is something for everyone in every price range. I wish I’d had the chance to try the mimosas while I was there. They looked amazing!!! 😍 We did visit the salt cave as well. I’d never been to one before. So relaxing and beautiful.

Blue Jay Inn never disappoints! The rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable and the shop has so many lovely things to buy. Yummy treats and seriously the Bloody Mary’s and mimosas are delicious! All of the employees are nice a super helpful. Walkable distance to anywhere in town, great location! This is where I always stay because I know it’s the best place in Lava!

Absolutely loved Blue Jay Inn in Lava Hot Springs! Location: Excellent—quick, pleasant walk to everything in town. Whether you’re popping out for a bite, a soak, or a stroll along the river, everything is conveniently close. Rooms: Clean, bright, and well-laid-out with thoughtful amenities. Comfortable bedding and smart layouts make settling in feel easy, and you can tell the space is well cared for. Gift Shop: Fun with something for everyone, plus great drinks and desserts. It’s a delightful spot to pick up a local keepsake or a treat for the road. Salt Bath: I saw the salt bath during my visit and I’m excited to try it on our next stay. It sounds like a perfect addition to a relaxing Lava Hot Springs visit. Overall: Great value, convenience, and a welcoming vibe. The combination of location, clean rooms, and charming extras made the stay memorable. Highly recommend Blue Jay Inn.

The BEST! Mark & Kathy put so much work into this place and it shows. In the perfect location in the middle of town. I already can’t wait to return.

I didn't know it was a hotel when I visited; I was simply drawn to its beautiful Halloween decorations. The tall poplar trees nearby were shedding yellow leaves, creating a captivating autumnal scene. There was also a huge skull on the lawn holding a large sign inviting everyone to a Christmas party. The exterior alone attracted a large group of us foreigners, who lingered for quite some time. The gift shop wasn't large, selling clothing, blankets, toys, bath products, and souvenirs. I spent a long time browsing the skincare and soap sections. There are many shops selling handmade soaps in Taiwan, but this place had very unique goat milk soaps, each with its own distinctive pattern. If I weren't afraid of the goaty smell, I would have really wanted to buy one and try it. They also sell... Here you'll find matchboxes, almost extinct in Taiwan, and Idaho specialties like bracelets and necklaces made from various minerals and gemstones. This perfectly complements the unique mineral hot springs. They also sell drinks, including some rare takeaway options. There are also various tea bags and teaware. My personal favorite is the tea strainer with different minerals attached—practical and unique. And honey sticks, something I've never seen in Taiwan before! Examining them closely, I realize how cleverly they handle the highly viscous liquid of honey. They allow for elegant and clean dispensing of honey. I'm definitely getting one for my family! The goods here are incredibly diverse and unique. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll if you have the time.

This review is only about the gift shop. We didn't stay here. I wanted to check out their souvenirs and try a chocolate covered fruit kebab! It did not disappoint! The lady at the counter was so kind and gave us a laugh because my husband looks like her nephews doppelganger.

Ten stars!… Maybe I just had low expectations but this place was great! Modern decor, mini kitchen, great shower, nice beds and down pillows, and super convenient! There are tiny rustic one-room cabins in Lava with shared bathrooms for almost 200 bucks and this super comfy and clean 2br was under $150. Really amazing value and Mark was super helpful. Totally recommend!

We had a wonderful time at this great inn. Our friends who stayed elsewhere were super jealous. Everything was nice, neat, and cozy. The employees were super helpful and kind. We will stay again.
