Die Bear Week ist die größte Woche des Sommers in Provincetown für Bären, Cubs, Otters und die Männer, die ihnen nachjagen. Sieben Tage im Juli ist die Spitze von Cape Cod voller Bärte und Tanktops, Pensionen sind Monate im Voraus ausgebucht, und die Gay-Bars der Stadt planen ihren gesamten Kalender um die Menge herum. Es ist kein einzelnes Festival hinter einem Tor. Es ist eine stadweite Übernahme, was es zu einem einfachen ersten Gay-Trip macht: Sie gehen vor die Tür und sind mittendrin.
Die Woche läuft von Samstag bis Samstag. PtownBears verkauft Bear Tags, die registrierten Teilnehmern kostenlosen oder ermäßigten Eintritt zu angeschlossenen Veranstaltungen verschaffen, und einzelne Veranstaltungsorte fügen ihre eigenen Partys hinzu. Der Boatslip veranstaltet an den meisten Nachmittagen einen Tea Dance, etwa von 16 bis 19 Uhr, und der Crown & Anchor, Purgatory und der Red Room übernehmen die Abende. Mitte der Woche gibt es normalerweise ein Lagerfeuer am Herring Cove, plus Poolpartys und BearMania, eine separat zu buchende Partyserie, die parallel läuft. Die beiden Wochenenden sind am vollsten. Die Tage in der Mitte sind ruhiger, und es ist einfacher, einen Tisch oder einen Platz an der Bar zu bekommen.
Buchen Sie Ihr Zimmer so früh wie möglich. Provincetown hat keine großen Hotels, um Überläufer aufzunehmen, die Preise erreichen in dieser Woche ihren Höhepunkt, und viele Pensionen legen Mindestaufenthalte fest. Die Anreise erfordert ebenfalls Planung. Die schnellen Fähren von Boston sind für den Eröffnungssamstag ausverkauft, Cape Air fliegt kleine Flugzeuge von Boston, und Autofahren bedeutet Verkehr auf der Route 6 und knappe, teure Parkplätze in der Stadt. Sobald Sie dort sind, ist alles zu Fuß erreichbar, also lassen Sie das Auto stehen, wenn Sie können.
Die Ausgabe 2026 fand vom Samstag, 11. Juli bis Samstag, 18. Juli 2026 statt und begann mit der FURBALL-Party im Boatslip; BearMania war vom 11. bis 19. Juli gelistet. Niemand veröffentlicht eine verlässliche Teilnehmerzahl. Die großen Zahlen auf einigen Reise-Websites haben keine Quelle dahinter, und wir konnten auch das Jahr der ersten Bear Week nicht bestätigen, daher werden wir keines von beiden schätzen. Die Termine für 2027 waren zum Zeitpunkt unserer Überprüfung noch nicht bekannt gegeben worden, aber die Woche hat in den letzten Jahren Mitte Juli stattgefunden.
