Palm Springs Pride zählt zu den größten LGBTQ+-Prides im Westen der USA und zieht am ersten vollen Novemberwochenende 110.000 Menschen auf den Palm Canyon Drive für Parade und zweitägiges Straßenfest. Der Termin folgt der Logik der Wüste: Der November in Palm Springs ist warm und sonnig, ideal für Open-Air-Events, während der Juni-Termin der meisten US-Prides das Festival in die extreme Hitze des Wüstensommers verlegen würde. Die Parade zieht über den Palm Canyon Drive durchs Herz von Downtown Palm Springs, mit Wagen, Marching Bands, Community-Gruppen und gewählten Amtsträgern, die die ungewöhnliche Stellung der Stadt als Kommune mit einem hohen Anteil an LGBTQ+-Einwohnern und -Amtsträgern widerspiegeln. Das Straßenfest im Anschluss bringt Stände, Essensbuden, Bühnen und das gesamte gesellschaftliche Leben der Community zusammen. Palm Springs Pride ist eines der wenigen Pride-Events in Amerika, bei dem die schwule Community in einer Stadt feiert, die ihr in einem realen Sinne bereits gehört — die Dichte an Schwulen-Betrieben, gewählten Amtsträgern und Einwohnern erzeugt eine Atmosphäre, die sich grundlegend von Prides in Städten unterscheidet, in denen die Community eine Minderheit im Kampf um Anerkennung ist.
