Über diesen Ort Durand Eastman Park

Durand Eastman Park, the large lakeside park on Rochester's northeast edge, has a long informal reputation in US cruising directories. It appears here for that history, not as a recommendation. Homosexuality is legal everywhere in the United States, but sex in a public place is a misdemeanour in every state and parks are the classic site of police sting operations; a public-indecency arrest can carry sex-offender registration in some states. GayOut does not publish meeting points, times or directions for outdoor spots. The safer ways to meet men in Rochester are the bars, saunas and cruising clubs listed on this page, and the apps. Go with the same caution you would use in any park at night: tell someone where you are, keep your phone charged and valuables at home, and leave the way you came.

Durand has a lot to offer everyone. You can hang out on the beach and have a picnic, go for a run on one of the many trails surrounded beautiful trees or even play a round of golf at the course there. Durand is a really nice place to visit.

Our family has a home that backs up into the park and they are lucky to see the many, Deer, and Turkeys that wander across the property. Every time I drive through the park, I need to be on the lookout for the same. Deer and Turkey everywhere. Very Nice.

Durand Eastman Park is one of Rochester’s visual gems. Turning from Culver Rd. to Sweet Fern Drive, one goes by the flowering dogwoods and the East’s largest grove of Cinnamon-bark maple groves, and then gets a head on view of a hill of dramatic conifers! Proceed north by the silted Tamarack pond, the visière sees one of the lovely wood trails that the area is known for. Turn onto Lakeshore Blvd. and one can get an arial view of the expansive Lake Ontario, with a very popular casual beach below. This is also a popular place for watercraft in the Summer. Sadly the many roads and trails, that provide through access to the interior of the park are blocked, due to poor maintenance by the County Parks Department. The views of Durand an Eastman Lakes do give viewers a taste of the magnificent temperate forest park!

Durand Park has many different great things to do. there is the beach of course which is quite long and really is more like an ocean beach then what you'd think a lake beach would be like. of course, the great lakes are technically inland seas rather than lakes which is why they are more like oceans. on Windy days there are actually waves and white caps and you could think you are at the ocean. On the other side of the road there are trails and hills and valleys and ponds and streams and it is a beautiful place to hike and walk and see nature. There is also one road called zoo road which formerly held a very large zoo in Rochester which is no longer there unfortunately but it's interesting to look up the history. and right up the street is seabreeze where you can either go to the amusement park or play miniature golf or get some great food at any number of places that are right up there. It's definitely a great day by the lake.

They've started adding new equipment and you'd think it'd be poorly maintained but the maintenance is excellent

It's nestled along Lake Ontario and can keep you busy all day. If you hike or Swim or venture off to Seabreeze Amusement Park, there is plenty to do.

This is a nice place to hike. You are near the lake or you can travel through the wooded area. There are some challenging areas and some that are easy to walk.

I love the beach here in the summer. I love the golf course. I like hiking the trails. Even driving here on King’s Highway is a joy with its winding path through the park.

Here's a park that has everything in the way of Nature's beauty and outdoors activity. Explore the many hiking trails high and low around ponds, woods, shallow ravines. Go swimming in the lake at the beach, or fishing in a pond. Maybe throw in a round of golf. Pack a picnic lunch. Take scenic pictures. At any time of the year, there is something to do and see here.
