The Colombian Hotel, on Darlinghurst’s Oxford Street, is an easygoing bar that’s open every day and night.

It’s in an old building, but the space feels open and airy, with a pub-style bar that mixes old-school charm with modern hospitality. The bartenders here are good, especially with cocktails, which makes it a solid spot for a drink in one of Sydney’s big LGBTQ+ neighborhoods.

The crowd changes through the week. Early in the evening, it’s a bit more mixed, but as the night gets later, you’ll see more of a younger set. So, depending on when you go, you can get a different feel. They’re open daily, which means you can drop in for an early drink or make it part of a bigger night out.

Being right on Oxford Street means you’re in the middle of it all. This street is a big deal for LGBTQ+ visitors to Sydney, and The Colombian puts you right there. Came to Sydney for New Year's Eve and found this bar, had an amazing time here and the staff were really friendly too. We will definitely be back here the weekend
I had booked to have my birthday (with 20 guests coming) on the rooftop. I arrived and they told us we had no booking, they tried to say we didn’t confirm so they didn’t honour the booking and weren’t giving us tables. We had in writing our confirmation, so showed them. They weren’t apologetic about the mistake and said “well you can have the tables for 2 hours but then have to leave as another party has booked it”. After being there for only an hour and 15 mins they came over and said the other party had arrived early therefore we have to leave (even though we had a booking). We refused as only a few people from that party had arrived and it was my birthday party as well. They came over 10 mins later and made us leave which at this point I just got my friends and did leave the rooftop as I was already so over it and so upset. No real apology or anything. The other party was a lot bigger and it seems they purposely didn’t honour my booking to take the larger one. I’m so angry and upset about what happened. I was celebrating my birthday and had planned it for weeks and got forced out after less than 2 hours. With constant disruptions by staff trying to get me to leave in the less than 2 hours I was up there. Really upset and disappointed. Not okay.
Hadn't been here for a while came back it has been revamped. Thoroughly enjoyed the roof top bar, its energy and vibe. Nice mixed group, good cocktails. They had live entertainment which that night was a saxophone player. Love the new look they've gone with, it'll be good as social outings become more popular after winter.
Draggieokie at the Colombian was one of my favorite parts of the week. It was so much fun and brought the community together in a way that's hard to put into words. I'm so disappointed that it was cut without anything being said by the venue. Dakota and the rest of the drag queens who worked so hard to put this event on were amazing and I will miss seeing them each week. I personally will not be going back to the Colombian unless they decide to bring karaoke back.
I don’t see the logic in asking full grown adults for their ID to enter the premises at 6pm on a Friday afternoon. Despite having said identification, one member of our party only had a photograph of his international passport which was considered insufficient. Whatever the law says, and whatever the policy is - enforcing it as such without application of common sense is absurd. I appreciate the “Under 25” challenge, I can assure you, nobody is mistaking us for 25
