About this place The Oxford Hotel

The Oxford Hotel is a well-established destination on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, one of Sydney's most iconic LGBTQ+ precincts. The venue features four bars across its spaces, offering multiple atmospheres within one location. Last night I came for a spectacular spicy mango margherita, however today I ordered the same cocktail but they served me something different. I assumed it was the same cocktail but served differently, so I tasted it and it definitely wasn't the same. I told the Asian guy at the bar that it wasn't what I had ordered and he got very upset. He started banging things on the table in a fit of rage and reluctantly gave me the cocktail. He didn't even respond when I said thank you. It didn't taste exactly like last night's either, but it was a little closer. People like that aren't fit to serve customers. I never want that guy to serve me again...

Love the new and improved balcony. Adds a much needed classier and spacious feel. Also, Jimmy the manager is literally the heartbeat of this venue. Knows his locals and puts service at the heart of everything.

Update to my review below "So just paid $29 for a starter size pasta. Talk about a rip off. Never again will I purchase food here. Service was slow and unfriendly #oxfordhotel" The venue is great, staff are fantastic, best trivia in Sydney. If you are thinking of food at this venue, DON'T, over past months the kitchen was outsourced and the quality has gone downhill. Tonight ordered a rump steak medium rare and it was served over cooked, asked for chips and vegetables, no vegetables in the venue. Meal was served with salad. The kitchen has taken some staples off the menu. Sorry to say until the kitchen changes operator's I will not be back for food

Went on a Friday early eve and had the fish n chips. The fish was nice and crispy, and it was a very large portion, enough for 2 people honestly. Service was standard for a bar, and the music could have been a little louder, which is usually the opposite that it is too loud. Overall had a good time and would go back.

The oxford hotel used to be a lovely place where you could meet genuine people and enjoy a drink without being judged. But lately they have turned against the very people that kept them in business and have tried to throw up a couple crappy lights and act like they are too good for their regulars. Catering to the straights or the walkins and new crowd while leaving those valued customers who have been coming there religiously for years in the dust. Its a shame to see considering oxford street has been so barren lately but they are doing this to themselves. Would not recommend going there and suggest kinselas or palms instead.
