Skopje Pride is North Macedonia's annual LGBTQ+ visibility event, held every June since the first successful march in 2019. The event brings together the local queer community with allies and international supporters for a march through Skopje's city center followed by cultural programming including music, speakers, and community celebration. In a country where same-sex relationships have no legal recognition and accession negotiations with the EU are ongoing, each Pride march serves as both a community celebration and a political statement about the kind of society North Macedonia's LGBTQ+ people are building. The 2026 edition is expected to draw around 1,000 participants, reflecting the growing confidence and visibility of the Skopje LGBTQ+ community. For queer travellers visiting the region in June, timing a Skopje visit around Pride is an excellent way to connect with the local community.
