Ok guesthouse to stay for access to Sao Tome city. Rooms are fine, clean and well kept. Bar area by the pool for drinks (we didn’t use). Pool is lovely and kept clean, enjoyed a swim. Simple breakfast available (some discrepancy about whether it was included in our stay or not - it was but they didn’t agree for a while). Great location to the city, easy and safe walking distance. Also close to the coast for a beach walk or run. Would recommend
A place that makes us feel at home.
Not very clean, Wi-Fi sucks, breakfast is average. They have a hot water. That’s the only thing they got going for them really
The Wi-Fi is terrible and they haven't fixed it. The service is good, the manager not so much, but the gardens are very nice.
Do not stay!! Where do I begin, my girlfriend was born in Principe and her parents talk fondly of both São Tomé and Príncipe, when we arrived we got settled, check in was straight forward, we asked the reception man to organise a taxi for us going from Sao Pedro guest house to Papa figo restaurant - we were quoted €20 we later used an app recommended by her include who is from Sao Tome and lives there and it cost us 42 dobras which is €1.71. Look I’m a reception manager in Belfast so I understand hotels have to earn commission and stuff but the difference is horrendous. Immediately after the reception guy told us we requested to cancel, he told us we would have to pay 100 dobras to cancel, bare in mind the decision was made instantly to cancel and the driver was clearly outside the hotel waiting as he arrived in 30 seconds. I refused to pay and I was not falling for a tourist scam, I can understand this being done if it was me and maybe a girlfriend who is not local but my girlfriend and her family is from Sao Tome and Príncipe! The driver then went back and forward with us demanding we pay outside, my girlfriend wanted to pay him but I refused. I am a type 1 diabetic who has been insulin dependant for 16 years and this argument caused me a lot of stress and my blood sugar went extremely low (can provide evidence of this and the times if needed). I was in the middle of taking my blood sugar on my machine to treat the immediately drop due to the stress caused by the situation and the driver was getting angrier and angrier. I told my girlfriend to go to the room and as she tried to walk to the stairs the driver walked immediately past me and gripped my girlfriends arm with extreme tightness, I got extremely angry and shouted at the driver and trailed his arm off her and told him to not dare grab a women or my girlfriend like that, he then tried to grab her arm again and I pushed him away and demented the police were called, at that point the reception guy and the guy from the bar came over to try and diffuse the situation and told us to go on to our room and tried to reason with the driver (can I also mention that while he was screaming in my face in Portuguese I could smell the drink from his mouth as he was clearly highly intoxicated) I went back to the room and we called her uncle to come collect us who was also furious at the situation, throughout the rest of our stay we felt unsafe and not welcomed in Sao Pedro guest house, at no stage did the staff mention or apologise for the situation. Owner then spoke to my girlfriend at breakfast on her own and offered her a pathetic free breakfast for 2 days which is €20 then on check out she got charged Terrible place and terrible service from an owner who argues with you through booking.com messages and still doesn’t apologise.
