Hotel Theodor

The location is excellent, the interior is stylish—that's where the positives end. The room is dirty, there's no service at all, and the soundproofing is nonexistent—you can hear everything going on outside and in the neighboring rooms.

I stayed at the Theodore for 12 nights. When I arrived the shower was dirty with soap scum and there was garbage in the shower. The products in the room were never replenished, even when asked. One day the room was not cleaned and I was told that the cleaners just didn’t show up that day. Another night the fire alarm went off for an hour. There is also construction in the hotel and across the street which is very loud early in the morning. The windows are not noise proof and being off a very busy street made it very difficult to sleep. When I tried to speak with the manager about compensation and explaining how my room was not cleaned the day prior, she laughed at me for asking and said no way could she do compensation. Would not recommend staying here.

The room we were given at check-in was dirty: stains, hair, dust, and used shampoo bottles left from previous guests. We reported it to reception, and they promised to clean it while we were out. We returned three hours later — nothing had changed, and no one had even informed us that cleaning would not be done. The manager said the cleaner had already left, offered for us to spend the night in the dirty room, and clean it in the morning. No alternatives were offered. The best they could offer was a refund for only one night if we checked out immediately, but “you can come back tomorrow.” In other words, they expected us to find another hotel late at night, move all our belongings there, and then return the next day in 40°C heat — just to avoid losing money for the second night. This hotel used to be part of the Brown Hotels chain, and we stayed here before when everything was perfect. That’s why we decided to return. However, the hotel has been sold and is no longer part of Brown Hotels, yet on Google it still appears as Theodor Brown by Brown Hotels, and booking confirmation emails come from Brown’s email and domain. This is misleading and creates false expectations. We left and will never return. It’s sad to see a place with such a good history decline so badly. Not recommended.

Simply a catastrophe, extremely dirty, towels with hair, stains on the walls and everywhere. Feels like a rat is about to come out from under the bed. In short, a terrible experience, human suffering. God knows how many bacteria and germs are in the rooms.

This used to be a great hotel (when it belonged to the Brown chain). Unfortunately, I now have to give it one star (although it doesn't even deserve that). The hotel is dirty, unkempt, and the staff treats guests with extreme disrespect... and now I'll tell our story in order. I closed a room at this hotel; it was my birthday present to myself. My choice of hotel was conscious; I wanted this particular hotel, I had already stayed at this hotel and it was excellent! I like the location of this hotel; it used to have a very warm and friendly atmosphere, and it was clean (very clean!) and cozy. The only thing I wanted was a more comfortable room, but no other rooms were available on those dates... (now I'm even glad). We arrived at the hotel around 6:00 PM, checked in at the reception desk, and went up to our room. As soon as the elevator doors opened on our floor, I immediately noticed the dirty floors... We walked into the room and realized that the room hadn't been cleaned. The bed looked freshly made, and there were two bottles of water and glasses next to it, but it was clear the room wasn't clean. I looked into the bathroom and was horrified. The bathroom was terribly dirty!!! There were stains near the sink, the floors were dirty, and there was a terrible film on the walls, tiles, and faucets. And in the shower, besides the dirt, there were shampoo residues from the previous tenants. Horrified by what we saw, we naturally went to the front desk. The guy on duty was very nice and contacted the hotel manager. They promised to check and fix the situation. We went out for dinner and a walk and returned to the room at 9:00 PM, only to realize with horror that no one had even entered the room and, naturally, no one had fixed anything. We returned to the front desk again. The guy was very surprised and contacted the manager, who told him there was no housekeeping service today... meaning, for the three hours we were gone, no one had attempted to resolve the cleaning issue, and even knowing about it, they didn't bother to contact us. As we were going up to our room, we accidentally saw the housekeeper in the stairwell and demanded to speak with us (she didn't want to talk at all). She told us there was no way to clean the room; there were no staff available. We asked for options. They didn't offer us any options other than staying the night in this unsanitary place and said the issue could only be resolved in the morning. In the morning? What would I do until morning? We weren't satisfied with that option, and after a long conversation, the manager offered to refund our first night's money on the condition that we move out immediately. When we asked, "What about the second night?" "No!" We'll resolve the issue in the morning, and you can move in. So, by her logic, I should have checked out of the hotel at 10:00 a.m., which, due to their fault, wasn't ready, looked for somewhere to spend the night, in other words, be left on the street in a strange city at night. And then returned to them the next day, for one night, once they'd resolved the cleaning issue... So, instead of relaxing on my day off, I should have been moving my bags and dog from one hotel to another. Staying in these conditions wasn't an option for us, so we left immediately. We're currently considering a refund. Our vacation is naturally ruined, and all our plans are ruined.

I have stayed at the hotel a number of times in the past when it was owned by Brown. Service - extremely poor, there were no towels in the room, no one answers the reception, the TV does not work and when I went to reception they said there were no maintenance people and nothing could be done. The room is not clean - I recommend staying away!!! Even though it has been renovated.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Dirty, unpleasant staff. I spent 10 days in this hotel which doesn't serve breakfast, even though I paid for it through a travel agency. The receptionist told me she would reimburse the agency, which she never did. It's a scam. I had to sue Opodo to get a refund for the breakfasts I paid for but wasn't provided. Opodo had to threaten the hotel to get the refund the receptionist had promised but never delivered. Between the filthy rooms, nonexistent service, unfriendly receptionist, and dishonesty, this awful hotel is no longer part of the Brown chain, despite what it says inside. It's easy to see why, given the state of the hotel and the staff. Avoid it at all costs; there are many other hotels in Tel Aviv that are cheaper and far more welcoming and respectful of their guests. Don't be fooled by the flattering reviews, they date back to when the hotel belonged to the Brown chain.

from today i'll learn to read reviews! dirty towels with weird smell who were ripped and with stains. the bed sheets also had hair in them and stains.. the bathroom felt dirty and we touched everything cautiously. it's def not like the pictures present and we won't come back although the person who welcomed us was nice! :)

We returned from vacation today. We got the room at 6:00 PM, crazy late when they said it was because of the cleaning of the rooms. After we finally got the room we discovered that the room was not clean at all. The shower was really dirty and they didn't even take out the belongings of previous guests. In short, I don't recommend the hotel.

Horrible experience in this hotel - when we came into the room the toilet was stained, the bathroom dirty, and the bedroom floors covered with grime. After we complained about the state of the room and cancelled our stay, we were promised a refund. We never got a refund, and the hotel is now ignoring our calls. Don't stay here.
