Refugee accommodation!

There might be a budget hotel near the train to Anuga. A similar one in Cologne City Center would cost ten times as much. Neat, clean, and the food is passable, just like German fare.

The stay was okay overall, except for the lack of internet TV. The reception was unreachable; the phone number is no longer in service. And I need my bill.

Worth no more than two stars. The furnishings are completely outdated and haven't been renovated since the Cold War. The carpet is a definite no-go – absolutely unhygienic and impossible to clean. And it certainly looked it! The window shattered and we were given a room with an alarm door that went off in the middle of the night. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, contrary to what was stated in the booking agreement. Luckily, we were only there for one night.

I came here to stay for 4 nights leading up to Christmas as part of a solo trip. Initially the stay was very smooth as the rooms were quite clean and I was quite satisfied. But on the second night after coming back, I was told I had to move to another hotel by tomorrow morning due to renovations over Christmas. I agreed seeing that I can’t do anything else. As the hotel was a 20-30 minutes walk away and I had a lot of baggage, I asked later whether they could cover the costs of a taxi and the receptionist pointed at her phone saying she’ll help me call one. The next morning I checked out at 9:30am and took the taxi but the taxi driver made me pay him the fare of €8 instead. The replacement hotel was great with a better view though it was a lot further from the main station too. Overall the stay could have been great but the hassle of the last minute change and having to pay the extra cost of the taxi left a really bad taste.

For the price, a fine, clean room. You only need to sleep there, after all. And shower, right? Both good and clean.

The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. We will definitely come back... We went this summer, this time for the Christmas market. Definitely worth booking.
