Victor's Residenz-Hotel Leipzig

I booked a room for myself, my wife, and our 7-year-old daughter from May 23rd to 25th. Unfortunately, it was all very disappointing. The room looked old and smelled musty. There was no air conditioning in the room, which was a real problem in the heat, and no refrigerator, so we were left sweating and dehydrated. There was also no balcony. Parking was not available, only a few spaces in the parking garage, but they were all occupied, and it wasn't free – it cost €15 per day. Breakfast was boring with no fresh selection. And the worst part came at the end: I booked everything online, including breakfast, for €430. Then, at reception upon departure, I was told I had to pay €570 for our daughter's extra bed and breakfast per day, even though I had specified this online and booked everything online. I was shocked and angry about it. Never again, especially for a 4-star hotel!

An absolute disaster, especially in summer. When you arrive, they tell you the air conditioning is broken. In reality, there isn't one at all. Instead, there's a so-called "fresh air system," complete with fried chicken… The location is undoubtedly ideal, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The ambiance has nothing to do with modernity – it's stuck somewhere in the 90s.

The rooms are neither air-conditioned nor particularly quiet. With an outside temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, you don't notice any difference upon entering the room. A standing fan circulates the warm air. Sleeping with the window open wasn't an option, as the room faced directly onto the train tracks and the station – complete with the corresponding noise. When I asked for a quieter room, I was offered an upgrade for €10, while colleagues had already been accommodated in quiet rooms for the same price. Breakfast is standard. However, the location right next to the main train station is ideal for exploring the city.

A somewhat dated hotel. Friendly service. The breakfast buffet was perfectly adequate. The coffee was very good. On Sundays, they even offered sparkling wine. The rooms facing the street are a bit noisy, but it's centrally located and close to the train station.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner there, even though we weren't staying at the hotel. The food was delicious and the price was excellent. Compared to other restaurants in Leipzig, you really get your money's worth here. The staff were friendly, if perhaps a little unsure of themselves. But that's okay; they were all very attentive. We'd love to come back again.
