Clayton Hotel Cork City

We chose this hotel for the pool/gym. Location is excellent. We stayed room only basis, so I can't comment on food etc.

Reception lady on when checking out was not nice when asked her to update the invoice title. Room overnight can be really hot. The room temperature cannot be adjusted. Waiting time to be seated for breakfast can be long. Update in 2026- I had a few unpleasant stay after my last negative review. The bath mat was full of mold. I showed photo to reception. Another time when I was in cork, I specifically asked for a walk in shower in my booking after the unpleasant bath mat. And again I was given a room with bath. I went to cork 12 times last year and stayed 3 times in Clayton. After that I always book montenotte even though it’s up on a hill. Never booked Clayton anymore.

We did not particularly like this hotel it lacks any kind of atmosphere the room was not clean. Mold on the bottom of the curtains. You can't charge your phone from the bed but we had a fridge which was useful. The TV volume is limited in our opinion to a very low level and the mirros in the room we covered in streaks. As for the pool it's small and the steam room is in poor shape missing tiles. The door in the family changing room is sticking quite bad all small things that are easily fixed if managed properly. Lastly our stay was some bit noisy due to drug user's and homeless outside the nearby shelter they roar and shout all night and sleep all day on the path across the street otherwise we would have given the location 5 stars. We feel for the price per night with all of the above is not justifiable

Great location - 30 min walk from Páirc Uí Chaoimh

The location is great, next to shopping area, pubs, restaurants and local transport. We took the local bus to see Blaney castle, it was a lovely day out, definitely recommend it. Myself and friend loved the breakfast, lots of choice. We didn't go all inclusive but ate at the restaurant on two evening, the food was so delicious, cannot fault it. The staff are really professional, friendly and always happy to help with any questions, enquiries. I would definitely stay here again.

Room size is good. Fridge, coffee/tea and water available in the room. Iron and hair dryer also supplied. The pub (globe) downstairs is nice with friendly staff. Food is good. Need to add some decent wines to the list though. Coffee shop in the lobby is lovely. Coffee and tea available all day long with some light food items available also. As for location, the hotel is centrally located however, that comes with a lot of noise. The bar next door had heavy bass music that reverberated throughout the hotel until 2:30am. I called the front desk at 1am to understand where the music was coming from and when it would stopped. They claimed not to know or hear anything. Traffic, sirens, cars honking their horns pretty much all day and well into the evening. Shouting from those walking down below especially when the pubs close. Road Construction started at 10pm one night and building construction across the street started the following morning at 7am. I will choose a different hotel next time just due to the noise and unable to get a good night's sleep.

Not great. First family room we were put in did not have a functioning air conditioning unit. The tv also didn’t work correctly. The next room was better but still seemed like the quality didn’t match the price. The restaurant downstairs needs a lot of work. The food was poor and the service was even worse. Thought the 2.7 stars it was rated on google was an exaggeration but I would say it was close to 2.5. Won’t be staying again.
