Wonderful dining experience! Our order for two was the toasted brioche with anchovies, vieiras del Pacifico, mushroom risotto and the fillet steak and a bottle of Albariño! Food was exceptional, really generous portions and quality produce (worth checking with the waiter when ordering about how many plates to order), the wine is kept in the fridge and you’re topped up at all times. Hard to pick a favourite dish because it was all sensational and the service was brilliant from Marco! If you’re in Maspalomas and want a really delicious meal then I can’t recommend enough, I would recommend booking in advance! Our total without our tip was €110!

I was looking for a place with meticulous attention to detail, high-quality cuisine, and where they truly work with excellent ingredients. And I can say without a doubt: coming to Travieso was the best decision of our entire trip. For me, it takes the prize for the best restaurant in Maspalomas. 🏆 It has a relatively small menu, but the quality is top-notch. And behind it all is an incredible Portuguese owner. You can tell he's passionate about what he does: you only have to see him explain each dish and how they prepare everything, paying attention to even the smallest detail. Of the starters, the scallops, the burrata, and the anchovy brioche were particularly outstanding. But the brioche… it's amazing. 🤯 A flavor I'd never tasted before, and we loved it so much we ordered it again. And there was another detail as soon as we arrived that I loved. I'm a big coffee lover, and I noticed they work with Illy, a brand that, for me, is among the best. It might seem trivial, but it says a lot about a restaurant. There are places that pretend to offer haute cuisine but then serve you cheap, terrible coffee. Here, you can tell they pay attention to every last detail, including the coffee. And that alone made me think we were going to enjoy ourselves. For our main courses, the sirloin steak, the duck, and the cod are all absolutely recommendable. I couldn't possibly choose just one because all three were amazing. In fact, we liked it so much that we came back two nights in a row for dinner so we could try all the dishes. And I think that says it all. If you value quality ingredients, excellent service, and truly meticulous cooking, you have to come here. We'll definitely be back. ❤️

Travieso honoured its name: it was mischievous and bad mannered. The restaurant sits on a relatively busy thoroughfare, where tourists and traffic alike slowly make their way up and down the road. It is conveniently located near the famous Yumbo center, offering a relatively quieter dining experience. And while it is clear that the owners have made an effort with the decor, the place exhibits signs of dilapidation: there was rubbish outside the entrance, there's an abandoned air con unit in plain sight, and an empty cast iron menu holder outside, that performs no other function than that of a post for dogs to avail themselves of. Travieso markets itself as a "gastronomic experience of high quality". We booked a table for 2 for 8:30pm. Upon arrival, there were a total of 6 tables taken, and plenty more available. We were welcomed by an unidentified sassy gentleman wearing Crocs (and so our "high quality" experience began). He checked our booking and told us to wait another 10 minutes so he could get our table ready. As we waited others arrived, got offered a table and welcome drinks, we... waited. When we finally got our table, there were no welcome drinks. You will find from other review websites that this kind of feedback has been met with immature sarcastic comments from Travieso. Suffice to say, there is absolutely no way everyone else was celebrating a special occasion except us - Travieso failed, and front of house service was quite frankly very poor. It is important to note that we did not feel in any way singled out, the sad reality that was abundantly patent is that they were severely understaffed, and things just fell apart because after we sat down the restaurante slowly but surely filled up - things were only going to get worse - and so they did. Travieso would present us with this industry's oldest trick in the book, but more on this later. Let us talk food. We attach some photos of what we ate. For starters we went for the scallops and the prawns. The scallops were "OK", and as my spouse said "it's nice to have them play in your mouth with the lemon grass, but this is nothing to write home about". The prawns, as is clear from the photo, were presented as an oily soup of I'm not sure what. I did not taste ginger, I did not taste garlic, and I certainly did not taste enough chilli - but they were well cooked, clean, less rubbery than most local parlours will offer you, and slightly bigger too - which was a plus. Suffice to say that you can find locally tastier starters in lesser pretentious settings. It was nonetheless an amusing experience to listen to the list of ingredients enunciated by the Crocs wearing sassy waiter at the speed of light, so much so his back was already turned when he uttered "lemon grass". Again, the place was clearly understaffed, but we will add that service always did come with a cheeky smile attached. The main courses, served 1h25m after we sat down (and no, we are not slow eaters, in fact the glass of white whine was warm when the food arrived) is where opinions divided, for I went for the Salted Cod Loin, whereas my spouse had the Angus Steak. And here, credit to the chef (whomever that was) I was truly impressed with how the cod was cooked. It is very easy to ruin a perfectly good cod, but here some notes of a "gastronomical experience of high quality" did shine through. As for the Angus Steak, it was, again "OK" - the home made fries were the main attraction of this dish, which about says it all. We did have desserts, the Creme Brûlée and the Poached Pear, both of which were "OK", although the ice cream served with the pear, I must confess, was way too sweet for us. We drank our coffee, and asked for the bill, to be presented with a "Still Water" charge of €35 (see below). *cough* When challenged, Travieso apologised and blamed "this new system"... well, as always, we will give them the benefit of the doubt, but alas, we shall not give them the benefit of our return. We cannot recommend Travieso, however if you feel tempted, be sure to check your bill.
