I think it would it would be simple to make this hotel feel better up to standard. Like putting some money into having fresh sheets or a lick of paint. Its sad because I think these old hotels are really unique and deserve to be clean feeling. For the price I would say its really disappointing. I feel like there should be a standard for hotels and this one is bad.

I had a short but quiet stay in this aging hotel. I got a free upgrade to a much bigger room after taking a smaller room for one night (I had to move the next day due to booking tightness).

Don't appreciate certain guest putting lies about smoking spliffs and putting my picture on there review without my permission and this certain guest who did this is getting sued and it's a pity you can't get a refund lol 😆 and the hotel isn't as bad as he makes out yes the council does put up homeless individuals here and there was a guest called Lachlan mclean who was shouting all the time

Wish I'd booked somewhere else. I booked because it was well located and had on site parking, and the rooms advertised online looked nice. My experience was completely different though. The decor is really tired - scratches and scuffs on all the doors and door frames, and wallpaper scratched and peeling in the halls. Think "Wakefield Tower of Terror" vibes. The room I got was nothing like what the website shows - very small with a tiny "bathroom". Again, the furniture was scratched and worn, and there were holes in the carpet. The problems started on the first morning when I was told that there wasn't any breakfast available despite this being advertised as included. That evening descended into farce. The fire alarm went off at 11pm. The night manager spent more time trying to turn it off than ensuring that guests were safe. He thought it was a false alarm but after it kept tripping he eventually started running around talking on his mobile phone while an agitated guest kept following him and yelling how she could smell smoke upstairs. Eventually the fire brigade arrived and we all shuffled outside. It was an eclectic mix of business visitors and semi-permanent residents (mainly druggies, alkies and assorted homeless people). One guy was openly toking on a spliff in front of the firefighters. Almost no communication from the staff meanwhile. After an hour of the alarm going off constantly, the source of the alarm was found (in the linen room) and we were allowed back in. The next morning, my complaints were met with sullen embarrassment from the daytime managers who barely apologised and didn't offer a refund or compensation. When I said it was the worst hotel I'd ever stayed in, they just shrugged their shoulders. If I owned this place and Hell, I'd rent this place out and live in Hell.

Located 5 mins walk from railway station this hotel has faded elegance. Comfy bed, mostly clean and generous room, but carpet felt firm and crunchy underfoot. NOISY bar restaurant with loud music next door. Oh and you have to go out for breakfast.
