Perfect Introduction to Caravanning with Friendly Wardens and Spotless Facilities Being fairly new to caravanning, we deliberately chose a site only about 10 miles from home. I was quite nervous about towing, so this felt like the perfect place to start. In fact, I even drove up a couple of days beforehand just to have a look around and work out where we’d be pitching. We arrived over a very busy May Bank Holiday weekend, but before then I’d spoken to Tony in the office. He’d already allocated us a pitch, but as someone who loves sitting out in the evening sun, it wasn’t quite right for me. He couldn’t have been more accommodating. As the site was still fairly empty at that point, he took the time to shuffle a few pitches around and found us the perfect spot. Nothing seemed too much trouble. His partner Di was equally lovely and chatty. Anyone who says the wardens aren’t friendly or approachable must have visited a different site, because we found exactly the opposite. The other wardens, Angie and Ian, were also incredibly helpful. Their caravan is near the entrance and it always felt as though there was somebody around if you needed anything. The site itself offers a good mix of electric and non-electric pitches, on both grass and hardstanding. We arrived on the Thursday when the field was almost empty, which made setting up nice and easy. By the Bank Holiday weekend it was absolutely packed. The site does sit on a slight slope in places, but even as relative newcomers we didn’t find it difficult to manage. One thing worth mentioning is that we visited during a forecast 30°C Bank Holiday weekend, so the site was naturally very busy. Whilst I wouldn’t describe it as overcrowded, it certainly wasn’t peaceful. That said, we knew exactly what we were booking and, if I’m honest, part of the appeal for us was seeing a bit of human life and people-watching. We definitely got that. If you’re looking for complete peace and solitude, a fully booked Bank Holiday weekend probably isn’t the time to visit. If you enjoy a lively atmosphere, it was great fun. The site is close to the centre of Horam, with a Co-op and a handful of local shops nearby, although there’s not a huge amount to do in the village itself. We made good use of the on-site fishing lakes, and my partner spent two very enjoyable days fishing. At £5 per rod, it felt excellent value. As for the facilities, they were absolutely spotless throughout our stay. Some of the fixtures and fittings in the upper toilet block are perhaps a little dated, which might give the impression that they’re tired, but cleanliness certainly isn’t an issue. Even on a ridiculously busy Bank Holiday weekend, everything was immaculate. The showers were hot, the toilets flushed properly, and there wasn’t so much as a water mark on the taps whenever I visited. There were lots of dogs on site during our stay, but owners were respectful and dogs were kept on leads. We brought a dog pen for our own dog, which worked brilliantly and gave us a little bit of privacy on our pitch as well. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. For us, it was the perfect introduction to caravanning. Hopefully next time we’ll be brave enough to venture a little further from home.
Recently got back from a 3 night stay at Horam Manor CP. 2 adults and 2 kids camping with electric hook up. We received a warm welcome on arrival. Site is beautifully situated. Quiet and picturesque. Lovely lakeside cafe 5 min walk away. Facilities extremely clean and showers hot with high pressure. The owners were very helpful and even went out of their way to lend us some equipment. We hope to be back to Horam Manor CP before the end of the season. Thanks again
Friendly welcome by the manager and his wife. Very quiet during this period (late April). Sanitary facilities simple and clean. For us, a great base for day trips.
Such a lovely quiet spot with spotless shower & washroom facilities. The managers were so friendly & helpful as well as the groundsman who even baked us a delicious cake! Horse riding stables a few minutes away which we booked an hours ride, then delicious cakes & drinks in the cafe. A perfect weekend break. Would highly recommend for families or just a quiet break.
Amazing stay and the best of service. I pull a trailer tent and have stayed at so many campsites over the last five years but never have I experienced this. On leaving, we were met by the owners and were asked if we had done a light check on the trailer. This is just an example of how amazing the service is and that they do actually care about their customers. Don’t question whether you should stay here, just book it, you won’t be disappointed.
We’ve just got back from a stay at Horam we was on the grass electric pitches and travelling in a group of 3 caravans which Diane/Tony managed to accommodate us so we was next to each other which was a bonus. What a wonderful park. We was unfortunately hit by really strong winds that had out awning down but it didn’t affect our stay all. The site play park is tiny but a 3 minute walk and there is a huge park with a scooter park in which was brilliant for kids. The toilet/shower block on the grass pitches was a little dated but very clean and tidy. The toilet block on the hard standing pitches was a lot nicer. They put on an Easter egg/rock hunt for the children which was brilliant. We would 100% return and had a really lovely weekend so thank you both!
