Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside

Unhelpful front desk staff. Room not ready at “guaranteed” check-in. Do-it-yourself mentality for loading/unloading of vehicle. Service not up to the stars on the hotels masthead.

We've stayed at Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside several times before, including last July and again this past April, so this experience was especially disappointing. My husband was in Whistler for a work conference, and I joined him late in the evening with our two young children (ages 3 and 6) so we could extend the trip for a couple of nights. We had booked the same room category under a separate reservation and, before we arrived, were told that we'd simply need to change rooms the next morning once the new room had been cleaned. Instead, the next morning we were told there was no estimate of when our new room would be available. We had arrived after 11 p.m. the night before, unpacked everything—including an entire refrigerator of groceries (picky eaters) and specialty milk for our son with food allergies—and now had to repack it all without knowing whether we'd be waiting 30 minutes or several hours. We asked for a late checkout, an estimated timeline, or any alternative that would make the transition easier for a family travelling with two young children. Every request was declined. More disappointing than the refusals themselves was the lack of empathy and problem-solving. At no point did the front desk (who called himself a manager) acknowledge the inconvenience or offer a practical solution. As a result, we had to rush breakfast, pack our entire suite, empty the refrigerator, make multiple trips to the parkade, and leave everything in our vehicle while waiting for a phone call. To make matters worse, our key card access was deactivated before our new room was ready, creating yet another unnecessary inconvenience as we had to sort that out. Ironically, our new room became available only about 90 minutes after we were required to check out. Given how short that gap was, it's difficult to understand why a better solution couldn't have been found. While we appreciate being upgraded to a Family Suite when we finally got our room, our experience had already been overshadowed by the events of the morning and it felt like service recovery after the fact rather than an attempt to prevent the situation from escalating in the first place. This review isn't about having to change rooms. I understand that operational issues happen. It's about how the situation was handled. We've stayed at many hotels—some far less expensive than Pan Pacific—and have received much better customer service when unexpected issues arose. Great hospitality is about empathy, communication, and finding reasonable solutions. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. As returning guests, this experience fell well below the level of service we had previously enjoyed at Pan Pacific and has genuinely caused us to reconsider staying here again.

Pan Pacific met expectations with nice rooms and friendly staff. For an upscale hotel the towels were stiff and hard. There was major renovation at the pool with very strong chemical smells. This wasn’t noted at time of reservation.

Location and staff are incredible. Rooms are great. The kitchenette is really handy. The amenities - especially the steam room could use a major upgrade.

Service was awesome, other than having to wait 45 after check-in time to get into our room. Rooms were nice and clean, my only complaint is the pillows were too soft. Location was perfect, my only complaint is the bar noise from The Longhorn Saloon. Food smelled amazing but it's definitely the party spot in the village and very loud music.

Great Hotel. Underground parking, excellent location. Hotel room had full kitchen with plates, cutlery, pots and pans, oven mitts, utensils, dishwasher with tablets. Couch turns into bed with extra pillows, blankets in coffee table. They did not miss out on anything if you want to save big money not eating out every night. They cover all the bases for your visit!!!
