Really good!
Absolutely amazing tasting menu. One of the best meals I’ve had in my life!
An amazing surprise. We walked in without a reso and the staff was very helpful in getting us a table. However we got really good vibes from the bar, stayed there, and ended up having the best dinner of our trip. The only thing better than the tasting menu with the wine paring was the bartenders that served us. Raphael ended up being our main guy, and was just a wealth of personality and knowledge. Seriously a no miss, total of 9 different dishes and 9 different wines between my friend and I (we both got one same course). They are doing incredible things here.
This is easily one of the best restaurants we’ve ever experienced. The staff were super helpful, friendly, and attentive. They had excellent recommendations and made our evening incredibly special. However, the food was what really made the evening special. We ordered a couple of the five course samplings and a few individual items and essentially tasted the majority of the menu. Everything was great but we especially loved all of the seafood dishes (wood fired fish, spiny lobster lasagna with black ink pasta, Spanish mackerel, crudo, and carpaccio). The rabbit pastelle and steak (with it’s insanely good bistec encebollado gravy) were a refreshing spins on Puerto Rican childhood favorites. The Asian-inspired duck mafongo was arguably tied for the best dish along with the wood-fired fish and the cassava roll jam. Rounding out our meals were the delectable gnocchi, all three of their insanely good mocktails, coffee ice cream, and chocolate cake. We would order everything again and will definitely be back during our next trip to PR.
I asked Google to find a high end restaurant for my birthday and this is one that it suggested. I chose it because I liked the idea of the tasting menu. There are five sections or Acts as they call it. Each one has about 3 options. My wife and I chose different items for each Act so we could try new things. We shared and many were sour or vinegar based. The presentation was very nice, but we didn't care much for the food. They charged me $10 to park in their parking lot which has to be paid upon arrival. When we sat down there was no spoon on my side. The waiter quickly fixed that, but my wife noticed her only fork was a small salad fork. We each had one fork, butter knife, and spoon. At this point we noticed they were mismatched sets. At a high end restaurant i would expect the cutlery to match. At one time I suspect they severed food with 2 forks and as pieces disappeared they just bought random cutlery pieces for replacement. We were never given a steak knife even though I ordered steak. We were each given a cloth napkin which we put in our lap. That means we had to put dirty forks on the table or leave them on the plate. My wife left hers on her plate and frequently had to ask for a replacement. The waiters apron was badly worn and had holes in it. The floor was nasty. The table was deliminating. The light above our table had not been cleaned in a long time. In order to pay I had to go to the bar. Then their credit card machine wasn't working so after three attempts we had to use the computer which had a damaged screen. This may have been a great restaurant at one time, but now it falls more in the category of greasy spoon style. Our bills was over $200 and this place did not earn that charge.
Nice modern puerto Rican style food using local ingredients. Bread was really good , similar to Brazilian steakhouse bread with cheese. Empanadas were very tasty and croquettes de jamon were excellent Duck mofongo was average , felt flat especially compared to how good all their appetizers were. Smoked fish good, not as amazing as others have described it. Service was attentive, overall very good. Ding on the atmosphere because its super loud. Thet to invest in some sound absorbing solution , would make customers stay longer and enjoy food. Would visit again
Met all my expectations for fine dining. Food was amazing. Loved the variety of the tasting menu. The staff made me feel cared for. Will recommend for all of my folks going to San Juan😃🙌🏾🔥
