Hotel The Great Rivers, an Ascend Collection

The second we stepped out of the elevator onto the 3rd floor, we were overwhelmed by the smell of cigarette smoke. Once we got into our room, the smell was less but still present. After attending a graduation ceremony and dinner in town, we returned to our room to try to get some sleep. We laid down at about 11:00pm and at 2:00am, we couldn't stand it any longer and packed up to head home. The floor would have been softer than the bed. The bed was the hardest surface with absolutely zero give.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at the Great Rivers Inn, Ascend Hotel, especially on such an important occasion—our wedding day. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make everything feel seamless, welcoming, and truly special. Every member of the team treated us and our guests with genuine kindness and professionalism. They made sure we had everything we needed, often before we even had to ask. It’s rare to come across a group of people so dedicated to creating a positive and memorable experience. What meant the most to us was the generosity of the owner, who graciously allowed our entire wedding party to enjoy the pool. That gesture alone made the day even more fun and memorable for everyone involved—it was such a thoughtful touch that we’ll never forget. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, making it the perfect place to relax and celebrate with our loved ones. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations. We wholeheartedly recommend the Great Rivers Inn, Ascend Hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a place that truly cares about its guests. They played a big part in making our wedding day unforgettable.

Staff super friendly and down to earth. Great free breakfast and clean, well stocked rooms!

Pleasant staff but that’s where the positive ended. It literally felt like this place is owed by a family or group of friends that use it as a residence end place to hang out. Freezers marked with signs saying not for public and unattended kids all over the place. But, it was the room that did it for us. Debris on the floor, literal trash under the desk and a toilet that looked like the back of a livestock trailer. This place was dirty. The cherry on top was the pool maintenance crew and machinery firing up at 8:30 am on a Sunday as if everybody should be up and out of there. We were up but I can’t imagine all of the guests were.

One room no AC and hair on floor. Second room, Dirty. Rooms not cleaned. Trash on floors. Outlets not working. Dust settled on tv and window sills. No phone in room. No security latch on door. This place has a long way to go before they should be accepting guests of any kind.

Always our first choice! We have stayed here multiple times within the past few months and there is something new with every visit! The entire facility has undergone many updates and improvements. Cleanliness A++ Friendly and helpful staff A++ Rooms updated like brand new A++ Special thanks to Ashley and T. J. for the help extending our reservation even when the website could not!!! Always a Pleasure!!
