This is a good place for a quick hassle free soak. Bring a towel and a bottle of water and you're set (or they'll provide). This is no fancy hoity-toity facility with marble and tiled rooms, just a locally run gritty BUT CLEAN bath house. I've never paid for any of their other services, so I can't comment on those. But the tubs release lava water from the bowls of the earth, which you mix with cold spring water to get the right temp. I can handle about 107° for 10 minutes, then I add more cold to about 99° for the rest of my hour (or half hour). The signs warn you not to go above 104° for safety. My Garmin watch has a built-in thermometer, that's how I know the temps I'm running. When you're done, you can not rinse and walk out with the minerals still in your pours (my personal suggestion) or rinse off with city water that's above the tub from a shower spigot. The staff is nice and kind so I like to leave a tip (you don't have to). There are trinkets and stuff to buy as well. I opened up this review by stating its "quick". What I mean is you pull up, walk in, and if they've got openings you're in. You undress and hang your clothes right at the tub. No separate changing rooms, no lockers, no walking across the campus, no keys to return. HOWEVER... it is up in Jemez Springs, which doesn't make it literally "quick". But there's nothing quite like a micro road trip for a good hot soak that doesn't involve hiking. You can make a day out of it with local food and take the long way home.
What a nice and soothing experience! I drove from Santa Fe to see the wilderness and natural areas in the vicinity and stopped in to see if they had availability on-the-spot for a Tuesday afternoon - luckily they did and I soaked for an hour in a super deep tub with hot water. The faint incense in the air, the cool breeze, and the hot water was so relaxing I wish I could go back. It’s very cozy and friendly and while it is not a 5 star luxury center for sure I wasn’t looking for that - definitely recommend!!!
We personally didn’t go into the bath house as it was closed. However we came across the source of the Hot springs, and decided to spend some time near it. The steam wafting from the hot spring brought made us feel cozy & made us feel more connected with Nature. Very comfy place to just sit next to the source of the hot springs 👍
Cute, clean, comfortable! 2 hours soaking was just right. Tried all of the pools. Nice variety of temperatures. The water felt great!
My friend and I reserved the day before so we could get tubs side by side. I've never been to a hot springs where you can control the heat of your pool and have the privacy of this place. There are privacy curtains to block the tub from the other units and a curtain that can be pulled between the two tubs. Just a note for people who value privacy: It's best to go with someone you're comfortable with since the curtains are good but not the best as they blow with breeze from the windows. We were the first there so it was quiet. They have calming music playing overhead but not too loud. They also have windows open and fans running to keep things from overheating or being stuffy. The mineral soak helped with all my leg pain from extensive hiking and made my skin soft. The tubs are scrubbed and sanitized after every use so it is clean for each guest. Wonderful service from the employees and a lovely soak.
