South Wind Motel

I came back into town with my partner for the weekend and decided to give South Wind a shot, since I saw it had been renovated. I'm glad I did, because this place is millenial catnip. It's clean, it's comfortable, and the rooms are gorgeous and actually look like the photos. The price is also very reasonable, especially given the quality of the accommodations and the location. It's very easy to walk to a lot of the city's bars and restaurants from here, and it's also well serviced by public transit, if city driving makes you nervous. Of note, the room we stayed in was also very accessible, other than the step up to get into the hotel. The shower is a walk in and there are a lot of grab bars and supports throughout the bathroom, as well as plenty of space to get a wheelchair or walker through. While were were here the door lock malfunctioned while were trying to re-enter our room. The staff were no longer on site, but after I texted them they were able to troubleshoot, and when that didn't work they were there within 10 minutes. Seriously helpful folks who seem invested in the area. We plan to stay again when we visit next.

We stayed in a classic queen plus during a Columbus trip, and it was such a great experience! The rooms are thoughtful, clean, and quite spacious. The pricing is a great value, and there is complimentary parking & EV parking on site. The neighborhood was great to walk around in. Check in/out was contactless, and the room was even available before check in. If you needed anything - from stain remover to a white noise machine to earplugs (walls are a little thin as an FYI but wasn’t a bother during this trip, other patrons were very respectful), they had them available in the lobby - which is accessible via your doorcode after hours. CMH airport was about a 15 min drive, so it’s convenient for any travelers. This experience was everything you wanted lodging to be, and if we ever find ourselves back in Columbus we will be back!

This place is absolute perfection! They thought of everything. Rooms are awesome and so clean, and the bed and linens are insanely comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Have stayed at South Wind many times when visiting the Columbus area. Good location. This time, however, the TV was not working well. Couldn't get local channels, very frustrating. Also, the bed sheets were ripped and towels scratchy. Looks like it's time to invest in some new equipment.

The decor and vibes were immaculate, with the location and everything this will definitely be my go to place in Columbus.

We recently stayed at the South Wind Motel while we were in Columbus and we absolutely loved it. The property is beautifully updated. Everything was incredibly clean and very well maintained, and it was clear that the owners take real pride in the place. It has a cozy, thoughtful feel that you just don’t get from chain hotels. Our suite had a separate living area with a couch, table, and TV, plus a bedroom with a comfortable king bed. The kitchenette was a great, and the bathroom setup was especially nice with walk-in shower We also loved the little details. The door used an electronic keypad so we could check in easily without needing to meet anyone. They provided locally roasted coffee with pour over, a record player with albums to enjoy, and even a few simple games like Uno. They also have a compost option for things like coffee grounds and fruit peels, which was a thoughtful and environmentally friendly touch. The location was perfect for us as well, close to German Village and plenty of great restaurants. It’s the kind of place that feels personal, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. We will absolutely stay here again on future trips to Columbus and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming, clean, and well-kept place to stay.

I loved this motel!! It was adorable, everything felt intentional, the check in process was super easy, the room felt super clean. I loved the reusable glass water bottles with filtered water and my boyfriend loved the pour over. The bed was comfortable and clean. You can have a dog in a downstairs room so the next time we're in town we'll probably bring our pup (I think it's one dog allowed for a fee). We stayed upstairs this time so I'm not sure about walking noise in a downstairs room. I've never stayed in a modernized motel but I definitely will again.

I love staying at the Southwind Motel. The location - easy from the expressway, the access through a code texted before arrival, the lovely rooms, all make for an enjoyable experience. It is also close to German Village, which offers wonderful eating options. Southwind motel gets a thumbs up from me!
