Amazing drinks, servers are very kind. We are really missing out on losing this historic location.

My experience with this place was coming in from out of town, and needing a place to get a drink as I was staying nearby. The bartenders were super kind and attentive and it was honestly nice to just have a seat at the bar to chill and have a few beers. I liked it so much I came back during the evening on a random night and they had karaoke, although I was by myself everyone around was really just there having their own good times. I can imagine it getting packed for events they may have, but honestly I would def recommend this place, gay or not it is a super chill place, just dont be disrespect, and nice and tip! Also prices are really good, they have a big indoor space, they have slot machines, and outdoor seating/ smoking section.

Great neighborhood bar! So sad to see they’re closing! It’s a huge loss for the community!

Dependable gay bar. Great for mingling and being around other gay people. Not full of women. Nice terrace. Calm. While other places cater to bachelorette parties, this place has stayed gay. Keep up the good work

Very strict on the door entry , actual ID required. I explained People from uk do not carry their passports on a night out . No other bars in the area are as strict

I usually really enjoy going to scandals! But Friday night, the bartender had a rude attitude from the start when we first ordered drinks. Then, less than an hour later (I was sober) I fell coming in the door and broke my ankle. One of the staff members was very kind and offered ice and helped me off the floor into a chair. The same bartender from before, however, came over and told us we needed to leave. I could not walk and was waiting to be picked up and driven to the ER. He acted like I was a nuisance, when we were just sitting at a table waiting for my ride. I hope he gets some much needed training on how to treat people, because it was really disheartening.

I went to this bar to have a glass of wine, I was sober. I am a 49 year old, heterosexual female and I look (at least) my age. The Oregon law states that you must ask someone who looks 'under 26' for identification. I do not look under 26. I showed an electronic copy of my driver's license, this was not acceptable, I had to show an original copy of my passport. No 'wise' traveller would carry a copy of their passport when walking in downtown at night. You would be asking for trouble. There is a massive homeless situation. I have been served wine at numerous places in Oregon without identification. Bottom line. I should not have been asked for ID, I do not look under 26. I was discriminated against because I do not fit in with their desired customers. LGBTQI+ is about inclusion and diversity. This bar goes against these principals. I would not recommend that anyone who values diversity visits this bar. It is obvious this bar also does not welcome tourists.

Happening spot. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Patio was lively and action packed. Drinks were very boozy.

This was a cute place to get a quick drink, particularly during happy hour. They had $2 Coors Light and $3 wells. The outdoor space is the highlight.

This place does NOT have the values of a gay bar. We arrived there after travelling from Vegas and NYC, we had some great drinks in a mainstream bar then thought we'd support a queer establishment. After waiting 5 minutes at an empty bar to be served, we didn't even get a hello, but a demand for ID, after presenting DRIVING LICENSES, we were told to leave as we weren't American. Having used this ID in Mexico, NYC, Nevada and Seattle, this judgey, self indulgent, bouncey fringed 'barman' made us feel so unwelcome we left. SHAME on you for being an (empty) bar on HARVEY MILK street. As a queer activist visitor who's been to hundreds of gay bars around the world, this is a bad example of our community. I hope managent reads this and changes their welcome! SCANDALous

we wanted to return to scandals for a drink during gay pride month, since most of it is virtual....all masked up we sat outdoors at the tables and took in the scene...i had a rainier, and my partner had a bloody mary...the bartender was great, the drinks were good...we're happy to give business to scandals during these challenging covid times....be sure to tip big too!...thx so much!

we returned for a beer and a mimosa, and sat out front with some other like-minded folks...the pbr was super cold on a warm day...the front is nice and relaxing and full of people watching....we thanked the bartender for still being a part of the shrinking burnside triangle, as what was once a thriving gay section of portland, has been erased....so thx to scandals for being there for yrs, and having another block party during pride wkend fast approaching.....

Stopped here while walking around. Good bar. Good selection of libations. The bartenders here were very friendly. I could have stayed here for a few hours and enjoyed. The only downside is all the smokers sitting outside. I realize smoking is only allowed outside, but it would have been nice to sit outside without smoke in the way.

Don't often get to enjoy the local LGBTQ haunts while in Portland. Had some extra time before going to a nearby restaurant, so stopped at Scandals for a drink. It was around happy hour time, so it was fairly busy. The place isn't much to look at for the most part. Service was a bit slow, but then it was a nice day on the patio so no urgency on my part. To me sidewalk is the ONLY redeeming quality about the bar. It's great for people watching. I had to say that the smokers took it over and made it pretty rough to be there for long. I imagine it might be more fun during the late hours. I wouldn't go there again for a happy hour experience. Too many other options, gay or not.

Close to our hotel and worth stopping in for a drink or two. Drag show that was mildly entertaining was happening when we arrived. A few queens but overall a decent crowd mix. The bathrooms are not for the faint of heart (no privacy!).
