The US Grant, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Diego

Horrible experience from start to end. Had retirement event to attend and ended up arriving late to event because despite getting to hotel at 330, we didn’t get our room until about 5pm. Kept getting strung along that “room was being cleaned.” Bag then took another 30 min to arrive. Air conditioning didn’t work. Waited hours to have someone come “look at it” , ended up leaving at 11pm because who can sleep in muggy 80 degree room. Drove home in the middle of the night despite trying to have a romantic evening away. Front desk said valet wouldn’t be charged and they would follow up. They not only fully charged valet but never followed up. Had to call hotel back to get valet refunded. Nightmare experience for a 5 star hotel. Also NO Pool. DONT STAY HERE

Really good hotel! They have welcome drinks in the lobby to grab, live piano player in the lobby. We had a hard time projecting from phone to the in room TV, but YouTube was working fine. No pool tho, but they got us a lot of bottles of water.

This place is beautiful and we had amazing experiences and Grant grill restaurant was good to definitely coming back thank you

Victoria was completely unhelpful when we told them our shower wasn’t working, and they refused to help or do anything, despite what they charge. Stay at a Motel 6, lobby isn’t as nice, but the showers work at least

Other than the lobby, there is absolutely nothing luxurious about this hotel. I’ve stayed at Residence Inn hotels that are far superior. Room: the moment you step into the small and old elevators, you should know what’s to come. I stayed at one of their premium suites. What you get are old, stained carpets, a view to endless graffiti in the city, and an oddly narrow and small shower. Decent bedroom size with a living room, but everything is old and dated. Endless Noise: The US Grant is situated right near the Civic Center Amtrak Station and the Broadway & 3rd Ave trolley paths. Every time a trolley approaches a street crossing, loud electronic bells and crossing gate alarms trigger. Because the trolleys run frequently (every 15 minutes or so during the day) and apparently trains through the night, this creates a repetitive, "alarm-like" siren that literally keeps you up all night, and are impossible to ignore throughout the day as well. Atmosphere and location: a brief stroll around town will get you infinite homeless individuals on nearly every street corner as you stumble into iconic places like The House Of Blues, infinite amount of clubs and good restaurants, the original Ghirardelli chocolate ice cream (not to be missed), The Laugh Factory, Mad House Comedy Club, and several other stand up comedy clubs and interesting places if you’re into the night life. Final thoughts: no pool, $70/day for parking plus endless tips, great hotel service and clean rooms with a beautiful lobby but considering the insufferable 24-hour noise, the sub-par (premium) rooms, and horribly disappointing views, I strongly recommend taking a 15-minute drive to Coronado and staying at Hotel Del Coronado by Hilton, or a distant second choice, the Marriott in Coronado. You’re better off driving downtown for dinner at Mister A’s (also highly recommended), than staying here, unless you’re performing at the Laugh Factory, need to catch a train somewhere the next morning, or feel like you’re in Manhattan. My wife and I will never return.

I really regret staying here and hope my review helps others avoid the same frustration. This hotel wrongly charged my credit card for an extra full night after I had already checked out on the correct date. It was a clear error on their end. I spoke directly to the manager right away and asked for a refund, but he was rude and completely refused to correct it. I’m now forced to dispute the charge through my credit card company. The room service was also very poor — deliveries were late, orders came mixed up, and the food was cold. Combined with other problems during my stay, the whole experience felt careless and overpriced. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. This place overcharges guests and then offers zero help when issues arise. I will never stay here again and strongly recommend you skip it too.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. From the friendly staff to the impeccable cleanliness, the entire stay felt truly luxurious. Though I had read some reviews complaining about noisy bathrooms or A/C units, we personally had no issues at all. The bar was a highlight—the bartender was incredibly knowledgeable, and we had a wonderful time. While we didn't have dinner on-site, breakfast was fantastic with excellent service and very tasty food.

The fan of the AC was extremely loud, even when the fan was on low it was loud. Half of the elevators didn’t work. There was only one person at the front desk, and I had long wait just to checkout. The Grant Grill was the most disappointing one, I got food poisoning after eating dinner and had diarrhea for 2 days afterwards. Honestly would have expected better food safety from a luxury hotel. So due to the multiple poor experiences, this really doesn’t feel like a luxury hotel. I’d avoid this hotel if possible despite being part of the Chase Edit.
