I’m writing to formally share my concerns about an experience I had during their Wednesday night social special. I’ve been a long‑time DC resident and have attended several events at the Eagle over the years, but this most recent visit left me extremely frustrated. During the social special, I was overcharged for drinks because the bartender said they did not know how to ring up the specials correctly. When I went to close out my tab, instead of correcting the issue through the register or involving a manager, they grabbed cash from the drawer and tried to cover the difference with cash from the drawer. Even then, the amount was still incorrect. At that point, I was so frustrated that I simply took the cash and walked away. I have been a bartender as well and I know the first thing you do if you do not know how to run the register you ask for assistance prior to your shift. So, for this bartender to not correct the issue is absolutely unacceptable. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced poor service from multiple bartenders at the Eagle. I had been looking forward to enjoying the new bar, but the service issues since it opened have made it difficult to have a positive experience. I highly recommend you consider visiting other gay bars in D.C. before going to this one.

What they’ve done with the Eagle, by moving upstairs is an awesome addition to the DC nightlife. I’m looking forward to both designated great nights, as well as happy hours with the uncovered indoor patio area. For a DC bar, they definitely surprised me. It was awesome to see a place to go mid week that actually felt like an Eagle!

Was to meet someone there at 4. Of course he did not show. The bar was dark no sound The guy in the restaurant upfront English not great (doesn’t matter he tried to help. I searched their site prior to leaving I couldn’t find a number to verify. The other person wanted to meet for happy hour. Both are disappointments

Nice, clean, went early and that was my mistake. It doesn’t get busy until later. One commenter said it’s just “bunker overflow” and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I enjoyed my time here.

A fantastic bar. The only issue I have is a can of lite beer is $9, which is a bit of a rip-off, but otherwise fantastic.

I have to be honest about my experience here. So far I’ve visited three Eagle bars — the ones in New York, Wilton Manors, and this location in DC — and unfortunately this one was my least favorite. To be fair, it’s possible that I went on a slower day, so I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The atmosphere just didn’t feel as lively or engaging as the other Eagle locations I’ve visited. On the other hand, the bartender who was working this past Sunday didn’t seem very attentive, and it was a bit difficult to get service. That definitely affected the overall experience. That said, every place can have an off night, and I would be open to giving it another try in the future to see if the experience is different on a busier night.
